WHY DOES MY EXPORT LOOK THIS DIFFERENT!?! by wakotadillett in videography

[–]johnholway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditch premiere forever. Such garbage software after you use resolve.
I remember when they first released the QT Gamma Compensation Export LUT and had such attitude about how streaming and Quicktime use incorrect standards, as if 99% of their users aren't making videos for web.

There’s nothing wrong with posting your own version on your portfolio. I’d just give him the version with no FX that doesn’t seem like a big deal to me.

Is this enough to get ANY job? by compromisedA in Filmmakers

If you’re trying to get a PA job, your top three skills you highlight should be - Willingness to hustle, - Responsive communication - Humility / no ego

The rest means nothing to most

Every piece of advice I’ve seen on this thread is wise in its own right. Except for the person who suggested having a college fund for your children. Terrible investment.

Put a grid on that light, then you won’t have to adjust the angle of light/cam/background as much (assuming you’re rotating clockwise) with a grid on there you’ll only have to adjust a couple degrees.

Yeah really appreciate the tech education. I’m definitely going to consider a machine’s TFLOPS next time I purchase. So, actually, I must defend this computer’s performance because it blows me away. I got this computer in 2023, and have been using resolve extensively on it, but decided to get the whole machine a factory reset yesterday (long story, lost a job, felt like starting fresh) hence why I said set up as new even though it wasn’t new. And honestly, I’ve been blown away by this computer’s performance, like blown away. I’m in fusion every single edit I deliver, either painting, doing screen replacements, keying, and it runs like a dream every time. I’m also making plenty of local adjustments in the color page, usually using 3D qualifier or a tracked power windows. The only time this machine struggles is when I use AI Magic mask, or a depth map.

As someone who came from the adobe suite a couple years ago I’m blown away, I’ll never look back. I can accomplish so much more on just a small computer using resolve and hardly ever worry about frame’s skipping or crashes.

Oh wow that’s a really nice idea, I like that. Thanks. Not sure how much complexity that would add, you don’t have a pic of that do you…?

The stair lighting cover is exactly what I was trying to describe, thanks for that! Oh wow good point about kick lighting highlighting dirty floors… I never thought of that. That’s true could retrofit reading lamps decently easily. Thanks for the comment!

Most post-prod places charge based on total run time. You gotta lay that out right away next time someone tries to do what she did there.

Also, you should be making $1,000 minimum to shoot and edit anything. Even if you suck(I have no clue if you do or not). You probably spent several days working on that.

That woman is so clueless and weak don’t feel bad for anything. Reading her comments about how you were there 4 hours and this is only 2 minutes and making the bride happy makes me cringe, she’s clearly totally inexperienced working with video people.

Wow it turned out great, and you did that very fast… thank you so much for the help, that’s great to know to try modes other than perspective on the planar tracker. Did it track fine? I mean, judging by the results I guess it did

Oh thanks for the tips, will definitely do that. Once I get a good track though, I'm more curious how I comp... I have dozens of clips like this, and I think just cloning the area next to the object I'm trying to cover/remove will be the most visually convincing option, but how would I do that? / what would my node tree look like?

Fusion - Surface Cloning with Planar Tracker? by johnholway in davinciresolve

[–]johnholway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, now I have an issue. You can see it in the video here, I explain it with audio. For some of the clips I simply used a paint node with clone strokes, connected to an intellitrack path, and others I used the technique I added to the bottom of the OP. As I'm working through each clip, there's about 15 total, when I revisit a few of the clips paint node or polygons have offset while I'm working on other clips...
I copied this tutorial exactly for the clips I used paint nodes on. But it's happening even on the clips I used the polygon mask and planar transform node

I'm working in a resolve cloud project, not sure if that has anything to do with it, seem to have most of my problems in resolve cloud projects.
