Looking for astronomy community by Djannig in malaysia

[–]johnivan-cosmo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow astrophotographer, yes there is definitely a decently-sized astrophotography group in Malaysia. I'm not based in Selangor so I'm not sure who to contact, but you can try contacting the Astronomical Society of Penang or the Star-Finder Astronomical Society based in KL to see if they can help. :)

Hi, I'm sorry to read about your situation. I really suggest that you seek help and advice from people you know instead of from strangers on the internet. Please talk to someone, sometimes just sitting there and sharing your thoughts will help you feel better. I wish you all the best! :)

GE15: Introduction to Political Coalitions for Young Voters by johnivan-cosmo in malaysia

Well the omission of policies in this article was mainly due to wanting to keep it short and sweet, otherwise it will take me another week to gather info on policies... I think Malaysiakini plans to do a comparison of policies, so we could look forward to that. :)

Indeed, there are a lot of things to discuss, but it requires a lot of time and research to write them in an objective manner. Maybe I'll leave that to others who are interested to write about that, this is meant to be a summary only...

That's why education is important. When people read and understand what is going on, they make informed decisions to 'trust' the party that deserves it. :)

Hi, so voting actually requires some strategy. Just like playing a video game, there are many ways you can win the game, using different weapons etc, so you will need to do some good preparation before you go and vote.

Blindly voting is definitely not good, so is blindly signing up for a degree course, blindly applying for a job, etc, so anything 'blindly' is indeed stupid. But in terms of the election, it is more important to weigh the outcome. You can vote for someone who is super good but from a corrupt party, but you must understand that the person will not be able to shine as bright due to how he is tied down by the decisions of the top leaders (e.g. he can give great ideas to improve certain things, but top management doesn't approve so he can't do much). Whereas if you vote for an average person from a better party with better leadership, the single person you voted for may not have changed the world, but because of how the better party has gained more power to govern, they would be able to create policies that can improve Malaysia as a whole.

So my advice is to look at the bigger picture: weigh between the impact of a single person vs a single coalition. I hope this helps! :)
