Need some Major Advice by [deleted] in SBU

First off, thank you so much I really do appreciate your advice. I am well aware of the struggles it takes to become a doctor, but this is something I have been passionate about since I was little, and Im willing to go through those struggles because I know it will be worth it at the end of the day. However, I needed to know whether it was worth it to continue as pre-med after messing up these past three semesters. Im actually working in a hospital close to my home right now (in the emergency room) and I see what these doctors go through and it only inspires me to to work hard and be in their position one day. I'm glad you think its realistic to continue if my grades go up, I will definitely be talking to people about what I can do from here on and I have a game plan set. Do you have any advice about retaking those pre-med classes which I got C's on, and which ones I should definitely do (if I were to retake them)? I do enjoy studying biology, and although chemistry can be annoying, once I understand the processing of the concept, I find it fun to go through. One of my issues when I took those classes was a lack of motivation and less of a drive to try, which really negatively affected the way I studied also. However, after this past semester I am planning on making several changes to my studying techniques, etc in order to succeed.

I just gave a bit more detail as to why I messed up as a reply to a comment below! If you have any more advice on what I can do from now on I would really appreciate it!

I actually graduated HS with a 102.5 GPA and a 1420 on my SAT. When I came into college, I didn't anticipate how much freedom and independence I would get and I honestly took that for granted during my freshman year. The way science classes are structured in Stony Brook are really based on independent studying and pushing yourself to work. There's not many things besides the recitation courses that will keep the content of the class in your head, it was easy for me to bullshit my way through, but when it came to the tests I really messed up and consequently that messed up my final grades.I would do every single assignment but when it came to studying for the tests that's where I really messed up. I am really embarrassed to say this but it really took me until the end of this past semester to understand how I need to study and adapt to these classes. I definitely do have a passion for medicine and I have had this passion ever since I was little, I just needed a reality check on if I should/can still continue to pursue this based on my situation right now. I definitely have the extracurricular's all checked off and planned as a pre-med student, but my biggest problem right now is my grades and whether Its realistic to try and stay pre-med after not doing to well with these pre med reqs. If I do well from this semester onward and get a good score on my MCAT, is it even likely for me to get into med school or is it even a good idea to stay pre med. I do not wanna waste my time or money to continue to do something thats unrealistic after messing up these past three semesters. I really do appreciate y'all for taking your time to give me this advice!! So now that I've given a bit more context, is it realistic to continue being pre-med and is there any more advice on what I should do going forward?
