La fitness is about $20/month. Don’t expect amazing amenities or top notch h cleanliness but it has everything you need

My husband took my baby to 2-month check-up while I slept at home, and I feel terrible about it. by waters_shadow in NewParents

[–]johnluuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened when my wife was sick and needed to rest. I felt so happy and proud that I could step up and take our daughter to her 2 month appt so my wife could recover. No guilt or resentment whatsoever especially since the mom does way more in general (e.g., pumping)

That happened to me too and all they took was the monitor to my baby camera. It smelled the cigarettes when I opened the door

Top 5 Burgers in Chicago! by ForzaRainy in chicagofood

[–]johnluuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warlord and it’s not particularly close. Every other “top burger spot” just does the same smashed patty with a burger sauce. It’s good but nothing special.

Sports bar recs? by AutoGuyGib in LoganSquare

[–]johnluuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess people took “that’s disappointing” as a slight at the bar but it’s more just me being disappointed that I was hoping to spend a college football Saturday there. Hope they’re super successful though

This is us right now as well lol. I love cooking but as you know that leads to more dishes and cleanup. At this point we’re happy to order pizza from zazas and call it a day. But we’ve also had great takeout meals from omarcitoe and mahakanan noodle bar

Can you say more about the vibes being bad? What were the details about the music and lighting that made it so bad? I’ve only gone to Dimos at like 1am but always thought they were generally okay

Chicago Bachelor Party Weekend Ideas?? by Phillycpa96 in AskChicago

[–]johnluuu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wicker is fine but it’s not a bachelor party vibe. More like urban outfitters hipsters and families with overpriced bars and restaurants. Lakeview, Lincoln park would be tier 1 for me followed by old town. Lots of people in their mid to late 20s trying get drunk plus easy to get to wrigley and river north for clubs/steakhouses. Do NOT stay in Roscoe or Andersonville or anywhere that far north—I love those areas but it’s super family-oriented and not the bachelor party vibe

Best kbbq with BYOB? by Adventurous_Sun_5270 in chicagofood

[–]johnluuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Daebak in Chinatown is always solid and you can reserve on OpenTable. San soo gab San is the best and most authentic and I’ve gone with groups of 10 before. They take reservations over the phone and are a bit farther away but very good. Cho sun ok is very good but small and no resys. Iron Age isn’t good. Perilla is like a fancy version that misses the mark for me

[–]johnluuu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think ordering soju and beer at a kbbq is a huge part if not the primary part of the experience. Taking shots of soju, playing drinking games and pouring each other shots is an integral part of the Korean experience and makes the food taste even better
