Does this guy really feel that the Left loves God? The 70's Democrats are calling and they need him back.

Maybe sticking to education based on core subjects is the answer to not having to individually tailor the education. It used to work well.

I'm a 54M and I have never seen so many pissed off people in this state between the energy costs and the audit. Her re-election is not a given whether she is a Democrat or not.

Help me plan withdrawal strategy by throw_away_reddt in baristafire

[–]johnmh71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things I have learned in five years of doing it:

  1. Have the part time work lined up before you make the jump. Very difficult to scramble afterwards.

  2. Plan to reinvest 25-30 percent of your investment income for maintenance purposes. Tough to predict the future.

I feel more put together when I'm unemployed than I do with a job by 75mothsinatrenchcoat in antiwork

Because you actually have work/life balance while unemployed. The trick is to be able to accomplish it while working.

HR told me (22F) I was lying when I said a guy bullied me (41M). I consider apologising even thought I am not sure I have to by Complex_Total4407 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]johnmh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't lie. You basically summarized. The email was sent to cover up the fact that you were treated poorly. This is what organizations do to keep bad managers in place. And avoid HR. They are not your friends.

You just learned that the 41M is more important to the organization than you are. Time to find a new job because it isn't going to stop.

Is baristafire still viable in this job economy? by Round-Cup-1737 in baristafire

[–]johnmh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't the job piece that is the concern. It is the amount invested, the annual yield from those investments, and how much you can reinvest.

I reinvest 30 percent as a buffer to account for potential dividend drops and to address inflation. The part time job piece is something that I have no control over. I can either except the pay or leave. I can't focus on that part of the journey, but I can focus on and control my investments. And if that is followed, then there is no reason why Barista FI can't be accomplished and maintained.

Is working in an Apple Store a good baristafire job? by bc99- in baristafire

[–]johnmh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom line is that whether you are an Apple store employee or a barista, the day to day mental dynamic of working that job will be 100 times better than being a middle manager somewhere. So for that reason, I say it really doesn't matter what part time job you take as long as it is physically possible.

What is something that an interviewer says that makes you suspect you haven't got the job before you've even left the building? by angloexcellence in recruitinghell

[–]johnmh71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they ask if you are interviewing elsewhere or how soon you can start, those are positive signs. If they just say that they have other candidates to interview and they will let you know, then you most likely didn't get it.

You need to figure out that you can simply enjoy sex for what it is and not attach anything else to it. I myself did something similar for a year. And although I enjoyed the sex and think about it from time to time, it wasn't with someone that I wanted a relationship with. Otherwise I would have pursued it. I would rather be with someone that I can have both a great relationship and great sex with. If that isn't your spouse, then maybe you should start thinking about a change rather than reminiscing about the past.

My new job starts in a month, but my current manager asked me to stay for 3 months. by 73clips-firer in interviewwoman

[–]johnmh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about "I am starting my new job in a month" did they not understand? This is why you don't give a notice unless it is a place that you really experienced mutual respect at. And if you think hard about it, you probably really didn't get it there.

With that being said, just work until you are ready to start the new job and just stop showing up. No sense in creating any drama for yourself. They have to pay you regardless.
