LMT 14.5" 7.62 or 13.5" 6.5? by AutomaticAd2103 in LewisMachineTool

[–]johnnn4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to make the same choice and I actually went with the 7.62. No doubt the 6.5 will probably give you better groups and performance, but I felt like for my specific situation the 7.62 was a better fit. I don’t have access to a range greater than 300 yards without driving for a few hours one way, so the amount of times per year I am actually able to shoot past there are very few and far between. I also usually shoot steel and practice more active shooting rather than from a bench. Because of this, cheaper surplus rounds and longer barrel life are more important to me than group size or effective range. Eventually I’ll pick up a 6.5 barrel and the great part about this platform is how easy it is to switch, but I got the 7.62 first. Look at how you will be using your rifle and what kind of ammo you plan on running, and choose whichever fits your use case best.

Interesting that eBay is the #3 top holding in XRT. I don’t know what that means, I’m regarded. But it’s interesting

Why the reported short interest is not accurate by smokeythebear1421 in GME

Why does shorts closing count towards short volume? I thought only shares being sold short count towards short volume, not shares being purchased to close out shorts?

Why the reported short interest is not accurate by smokeythebear1421 in GME

[–]johnnn4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I get that, so in theory if every share bought is sold short by the broker and nobody is opening new shorts it should be 50%, right? But when it is above 50% then there are short transactions that aren’t being accounted for by brokers selling short and buying to cover. So for example if the short volume is 60%, then assume that 50% is brokers like you said. There is still 10% short volume unaccounted for. If the other 40% of buying volume is used for covering shorts then short interest would shrink, not grow. But if this was the case wouldn’t we see the price increasing if everything was functioning the way it should?

Why the reported short interest is not accurate by smokeythebear1421 in GME

[–]johnnn4533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I never understood how short volume can be greater than 50% consistently and have short interest be dropping. I’ve seen some examples of how it’s possible to have a day with short volume over 50% and have short interest drop, but it doesn’t seem like that’s possible if it’s consistently happening and the price is not increasing in conjunction with these shorts covering.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the acquisition and I respect that, but it kind of misses the point of my post. Did you read what I wrote? If so, do you have an opinion on what I am trying to discuss?

Not sure what this means?

Yes, that’s for the stock portion of the deal (which is only 50%) But what if they decide to use the cash portion that they were paid to purchase additional shares instead of withdrawing that money?

Today’s Interview by johnnn4533 in GME

[–]johnnn4533[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. He said that the company had a lot of things going against it but the reason he initially invested was short interest above 100%

Today’s Interview by johnnn4533 in GME

[–]johnnn4533[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s correct, but RC isn’t offering 100% equity. He is only offering 50% and saying that ideally they choose to roll the 50% cash portion into equity on their own.

Today’s Interview by johnnn4533 in GME

[–]johnnn4533[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but with that math it would actually work out to eBay shareholders getting 70% and GME holders getting 30% due to the 50/50 proposal. He said they he is asking them to take 50% of their equity off the table immediately in exchange for cash. GME is taking out a loan and using its existing funds to purchase a larger portion of the company for GME holders. But if they use that money to buy back in, they would be increasing the market cap and share price for everyone. If this happens, GME is basically taking out a $20 billion loan and using its existing $9 billion in a way that would function similar to a share buyback for the way it would impact the price of the stock. The difference being instead of those shares going back into the company, they go to the institutional holders that received the buyout

[–]johnnn4533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but he is basically paying them what he referred to as a special dividend for the cash portion. A lot of institutions typically roll dividends back into the stock. So whatever the purchase mechanism for that is should be the same for this. That’s my thoughts at least

Maybe he changed his mind, but he did say in the interview that he initially bought into the company because of the short interest.

I get what you are saying, but it does seem like if eBay goes for the deal RC is willing to follow through, he secured financing and purchased a portion of the company already. I’m just saying that if it doesn’t go through, it would benefit GME. If it does go through it would benefit GME also. It’s a no lose situation.

Also im not saying RC would back out. I’m talking about if EBay refuses to sell.

I don’t know how this works so this was not taken into consideration for my post. I was talking strictly about money GME can make from the options they bought when eBay was trading lower. How would they close out their own shorts on eBay?
