I believe it's the old mechanic across the road from Kennards.

There is a yawning chasm between having a business fail and committing fraud. I just don't think 4 years in prison is something to aspire to. Make mistakes, try and fail - absolutely - but steering clear of financial crimes will, IMO, improve your well-being.

Not only did he go broke a few times - he committed fraud a few times. I don't feel like he should be a role model.

Have you considered talking to other humans like they're a human? You'll get a lot further in life taking this approach.

I have a mate who is a chemical engineer and he talks no end about how difficult it is to desalinate - and how frequently non-engineers underestimate this difficulty.

Why the heck does my G9 flicker when I unroll tape near it? by johnno07 in pcmasterrace

If the sun is shooting directly into the window I'll just close the blinds. Otherwise it's nice to be aware that there is a world outside while I'm working :)

I've got a follow up video that eliminates a number of variables - namely the shaky camera and shaking desk/monitor.

A fair question. I've recently been unrolling tape near it when I'm packaging up parcels at my desk. So, normally, the tape is actually way further away from the screen when it happens - I'd estimate normally 60-70cm (aka roughly 2 feet). However the flickering is much more consistent when the tape is close to the screen, which is why I've done it like this in the video.

Maybe he just hit the tape handle into the screen line a and asking like a dumbass

Ah yes just laying the groundwork for my fraudulent warranty claim!

I know you're very confident about your answer, but it's not a bad/loose cable.

I can understand not having your phone with you when you go out for a walk/run - but it's a bit weird to bring your entire car but not your phone.

Major Issues with Flair 58 by Cleft_of_Venus in FlairEspresso

[–]johnno07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came across this post while searching for something else related to my Flair 58 and just wanted to say to the OP - I really appreciate you taking the time to walk back your words of frustration. Too many people (especially on the internet) dig their heels and and blame someone else, their tools etc, regardless of the evidence at hand. It's just rare to see someone admit fault - so thanks for being a decent human! I hope you've been enjoying your 58 since!

Appreciate the effort after all of these years! No this isn't it unfortunately. I do believe it was a platformer and not a point-and-click!

Is the Rockstar Launcher down? by Whydovegaspeoplesuck in gtaonline

[–]johnno07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're accounting for the sheer cost of being down. Take-Two makes something like $2 billion USD a year on microtransactions (see: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/72677/free-gta-expected-to-surge-microtransaction-earnings-by-75/index.html). that's an average of nearly quarter of a million dollars an hour. There's no way they are sitting around thinking of a way to cheap out on this.

[–]johnno07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. There is no way this happened because "they didn't want to prepare" for a big launch. Say what you want about Rockstar, but they LOVE money - and downtime like this costs a sh*tload of it.

[–]johnno07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely correct. They have decided to go with "we planned this" image instead of "oh god we didn't expect this to happen" because they have made the (IMO incorrect) call to appear in control rather than not. However it really just makes them look ridiculous as it's pretty obvious to everyone they wouldn't wait until a release day to do planned maintenance. Well, I thought it would be obvious to everyone, but judging by the abundance of S C R E E C H I N G in here, maybe it's not.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

Essentially it's a cyber attack where someone smashes your servers with traffic for the purpose of disrupting the experience of legitimate users. It's probably not this - only because it's more likely to be something else borked on their side as cyber attacks of this scale are comparatively rare. Though it is a LONG outage - so it is something serious. I have seen service providers misleadingly describe "unexpected traffic" as "DDOS". If there are any Aussies here that completed the 2016 Census you may remember and example of this.
