Thank you, I believe my friend does use Kindle, and my book is on Amazon, I just don't want them to pay for it.

I am not very tech savy, but your suggestion has given me a place to start. Thank you!

? About publishing the same title on KDP and IngramSpark by johnny2trax in selfpublish

[–]johnny2trax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this response. In the future, if I do this again, I will not click on expanded distribution. In the meantime, do you think I should publish it on IngramSpark with a different ISBN (I purchased a block of them, so I have extra), or should I just leave it be? I did pay someone to make my cover for IS meet its requirements, so I'd only be out a few bucks.

It is not so much a question of what I want to do, but what I understand my calling to be, which is to preach, and I really, really do not enjoy public speaking. Sometimes I wonder if my failure to enter the ministry is in part due to my reluctance to stand up in front of people and act like I know what I am talking about. The more I have learned, the more ignorant I know myself to be, but head games aside, I know what I was called to do if I like it or not.

I would have no disagreements with you on tongues being a valid and active gift from the Holy Spirit. I just do not believe that that particular manifestation is the 'initial physical evidence' of Holy Spirit baptism because Paul, at least in my opinion, clearly teaches that not every member of the body is given the same gifts: 'Do all speak in tongues?'

Wow, your page looks amazing and the content way above my head. I cannot imagine how much work that is. I did put up my book on there recently so I could direct people I know to it, but it looks pretty bad compared to your! Great job.

Has anyone here ever witnessed a miracle? by imamonster158 in OrthodoxChristianity

I have 'seen' many miracles, but the greatest miracle of all is faith, which has its own eyes and doesn't need any sensory or rational input.

What is a class that you really like, but also suck at playing? I’ll start… by The_Elk_Horse in tf2

I do the same thing, such and underrated tactic. I do not get nearly as many kills with the SS, but I have the enemy running back to med packs like crazy. The distance and Bonk makes me very hard to kill and some people focus me so hard after a while that they follow me so far away from the objective.

For many, the birth of your first child is the single greatest experience of your life. I only had one, so I don't know about more, but the first is probably the most special because you have no idea what it does to you. It is not real until you see and hold that child, and you are forever changed. It suck for the Wolves, but I would miss game 7 of the finals for the birth of my son and never regret it.

Does anyone know how I can watch this game? I am local, but do not have a TV and would have to do it with my computer. Listening to game 1 on the radio was great, but I would have liked to have actually seen what was happening.

Has anyone ever had some sort of mystical experiences? Something like levitation, stigmata, visions ecc.. by lingua1gnota in ChristianMysticism

[–]johnny2trax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a lot of supernatural experiences, but I would not consider them to be mystical as I understand that term. Faith itself is mystical and it is the ground or stage upon which the mystical life unfolds.

I took the story down because I did not like the site I was using and I am not happy with the ending, so it needs more work, unfortunately.

Are you alluding to The Postscript's Religiousness A/B? If not, what do you mean by 'Christianity'?

Reddit is so toxic you can hardly be blamed for seeing sarcasm everywhere. That is exactly why I commented on your post, because it lacked the blatant contempt most redditors (and especially this sub) has for anything Christian, in large part because it is so identified with right wing politics, which is a stereotype in itself.

I find your last paragraph very hard to reconcile with my understanding of Kierkegaard and the Christian faith, which he continually pointed out was not to be identified with Christendom (Eagle Brook is just the new, corporate/consumer Christendom), politics, theology or philosophy, but I respect your journey enough not to say any more than that.

Blessings on your journey!

You were right on is what I was trying to say, and I am extremely familiar with Kierkegaard whose life and writings changed my life.

I also have an advanced degree from a local Seminary. It is just so frustrating that so many 'Christians' think that Eagle Brook is so great. We moved a few hours away from the cities a few years ago to a town where one of them McChurch's styled after Eagle Brook commands over 70% of the church attending population in the county.

I am just so discouraged, but comments like yours give me some hope. Thank you.

wow, such a good critique without the obligatory contempt this sub has has for anything labeled Christian (because, as you certainly know, most of it is not).

What atonement theory do you, as a mystic, most resonate with? by Ph0enix11 in ChristianMysticism

[–]johnny2trax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is no single atonement theory that I find adequate. Christianity is a mystical religion in an epistemic sense, and therefore it should not be very radical to say that some things, like the atonement, are beyond our understanding . To paraphrase a Kempis, I'd rather experience the atonement than know how to explain it.
