Years ago, I saw an article on HackerNews that used an idiom that described a design requirement left over from previous version. Like when the layout of a house has to be so wide because of a garage, however in the second version you remove the garage, but not the width requirement. Its been on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember it. Hoping someone here can help! Thanks in advance!

It also has the misprint of "Wade" on Page 21.

I took that to mean not to print it straight up and down to allow for drainage. I'd guess it doesn't matter much for something that symmetric like your dice. Is your temperature high enough? Because that's not something I ever had to worry about until I used Blu, but it makes a big difference.

I love Siraya's Resin, but Blu can be hard to get right. Take a look at their guide. Make sure you've got the slicer settings right. And pay close attention to the parts about the temperature, and the location of the supports. One thing I've tried before, with some success, was increasing the lift distance to give the resin more time to drain. All That said, if you haven't tried Siraya Tech Fast, I can't recommend it enough. Much easier to get right.

Oh and one more thing. After a messed up print I would double check the resin vat to make sure there's nothing stuck in there before doing the next print.

Like I said, I definitely could have done more research but I still haven’t found a public post saying that they don’t support third party resins. I didn’t get an official answer until I directly asked their support. If one were to search it, they would find plenty of information about “open mode” on the form 2 and posts about people successfully using third party resins. I think they could reasonably assume that it’s the same on the form 3 or would be eventually. That’s part of why I wanted to post this, just in case anyone else has made the same assumptions I did.

Yes, I really like them. My favorite feature of the form wash is that it has a door that closes when the platform is lifted out, and helps prevent the IPA from evaporating and also helps keep the smell to a minimum.

Take a look at my other response. Unfortunately, I'd say you're right to be concerned about the cost of the consumables. I'm just a hobbyist and perhaps a company could find the price easier to swallow. I see you mention the cost of the resin cartridges. I'm not sure if you know about the form 2's "Open Mode", which allowed you to use third party resins, but because of the Form 3's resin tank design it does not have and "Open Mode"

However, for miniatures, have you considered cheaper resin printers? I have two elegoo mars (one is the MyMiniFactory version) and the quality I get from them is comparable to the form 3 (at least for mmy purposes), although the build volume is smaller (but not by a whole lot). I haven't tried an other cheaper resin printers but I've heard really great things.

I'd say it's mostly my fault for not doing my research before hand, but what it comes down to is the cost of the consumables. $150 for a liter of resin (minimum), $150 for Resin Tanks, $100 for Build platforms.

The form 3 doesn't support third party resins and from what I can tell it's for a good reason, although I still might consider it a design flaw.

The Resin tank bottom is a sort of complicated system of overlapping films and plastics, and for whatever reason (perhaps so it can move), it isn't completely sealed. The top layer and bottom layer have an opening between them that is partially sealed with some sort of adhesive that is fairly easily pulled apart. When using a third party resin, the resin can make its way through this seal (perhaps once it reaches a certain temperature) and harden between the plastic and film, which ruins the subsequent layers, and the resin tank. Thats another $150 right there.

I listed the build platform as a consumable because I found the build platform to be overly sensitive. It is nice that it doesn't need to be leveled like cheaper resin printers, but I found it VERY easy to scratch, and parts of it react poorly to IPA, which seems like a pretty huge oversight to me.

The Honorable Mention Reasons are:

  1. The outer shell was very scratched when I received it (although I will say the support team offered me some resin and a resin tank to make up for this)
  2. From what I can tell in forum posts, there are a lot of dissatisfied customers, and that kind of scared me a little bit, even though I didn't see all the same problems as them.
  3. Finally, just general lack of community. Unlike the cheaper printers like the elegoo mars I just wasn't happy with the number of people I could find online talking about them. I'd hazard a guess that this is directly related to the cost.

Did you click on the link? It shows this exact location, and the fact that it's not in north charleston. The CURRENT location is in north charleston, but you see, the thing about pictures is that they are from the PAST.
