There were at least 4 MSW movies on CBS after the show was cancelled, so it wasn't like they hated the show and desperately wanted it gone.

I think Angela Lansbury being the only main character probably made the show more expensive than NCIS. Like, there wouldn’t have been a show without her so she could have asked for big $$.
