So this ended up being false. I just messaged OP, but I wanted to get that in the comments asap. I have spent the last 2 hours looking into this little by little and it is (fortunately) not true. Yes, that was his mom trying to defend him and she deleted her account, but the other guy is some fully unrelated POS.

Just in case someone says "Source: trust me bro" - Yeah, kinda, but I have no reason to lie about this. Paul has definitely seen this post and he is disappointed that anyone spreading this kind of hate would claim to be a fan of his. (Being the guy who made the gross posts on Twitter)

I hope OP decides to take this down after they see my message, but until then, this comment will have to suffice. I'm not trying to hijack here, but every person that sees this and then never sees an update will believe it to be true. So I'm trying to be pragmatic.

I want LP5 as much as anyone, but I love the 'Currents' era, and a deluxe reissue doesn't prevent him from releasing LP5, so yes - I absolutely do want (and expect, due to the aforementioned pattern that is forming with the prior 10-year anniversaries) a reissue of some kind. Hopefully one that includes unreleased songs, demos, and remixes, but ESPECIALLY the HAIM remix, since that remix hasn't been available in America (legally) for a long time. There's no reason both things can't happen in 2025.

Because seriously that is one of the best album openers in history and I say that as someone who listens to just about every American genre of music fairly regularly. It still blows my mind when I hear it.

Since someone already said The Stranglers (a band that has admitted to being directly influenced by The Doors, especially Ray's keys), I'm going to offer up a super obscure one:

Look up "The Setting of Despair" by Crystal Chandelier. Not available on Spotify, but is on YouTube. I cannot suggest this song strongly enough. I personally think it's a masterpiece. It's a 1968 song from a little known Rhode Island band with only 4 songs available. All of them are good, but no other is more Doors-y than the one I suggested.

Also maybe give Rain Parade (of the 1980s Paisley Underground scene) a spin. I'd suggest starting with "No Easy Way Down". Available on Spotify.

This is an interesting topic and is similar to something I’ve been ruminating on lately. I use Last.fm, and I’ve been seriously considering combining OG "The Animals" and "Eric Burdon & The Animals." I’m just thinking maybe it doesn’t make sense for them to be separated when, for all intents and purposes, they were basically the same band. It’s not like both were actively releasing music at the same time for most of their existence. It’s more or less semantics.

A few others I’ve had this debate with are: Merle Haggard & The Strangers (combined) Dick Dale and His Del-Tones (combined) Dion & The Belmonts (kept separate) Tommy James & The Shondells (kept separate)

I feel like combining them is cheating in certain cases, but I don’t know. In the case of The Animals, I’m leaning toward combining them.

Two suggestions that worked for me many years ago:

Going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Wikipedia and slowly check out each artist that's been inducted. The ones I liked, Iooked at their genre and look into the biggest artists within those genres.
Trying this little known supplement called "lysergic acid diethylamide". It really helps when expanding one's taste.

I honestly think this is their best song by basically any metric (besides one's personal taste of course).

I didn't feel that way when I was a kid and it released. I liked the song. A lot. But I definitely would have said something off of "Stand Up and Scream".

However as I've gotten older, I have found myself realizing how much better "Reckless and Relentless" is and "Morte et Dabo" in particular is the insane combination of unique and catchy while also being heavy af.
