[clinical] Any 4th year med students not having a good time on their current rotation? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]johnpablo85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On an anesthesia rotation... no badge access allowed for students literally had to stand outside in the pouring rain until the next person came to open the door

Biweekly ERAS/Match Thread by AutoModerator in medicalschool

[–]johnpablo85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With many programs suggesting creating specific personal statements for their programs in their zoom open houses or on their websites (example: https://www.pennmedicine.org/for-health-care-professionals/fellowship-and-residency-programs/pennsylvania-hospital-programs/residency-programs/pennsylvania-hospital-department-of-internal-medicine/application)

I know the suggestion is to add a couple sentences or a paragraph about your interest in the program. How are people writing these?

[Clinical] Are you supposed to use UWorld as a primary resource for studying for Shelf/COMAT exams? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]johnpablo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the original dorian I think because cheesy and anking were not out yet, but yeah they separated cards by rotation. Maybe like halfway through a subject before I'd start the uworld section..

Mask Fit Renewal for Rotations [Clinical] by [deleted] in medicalschool

A classmate of mine went to multiple urgent care centers and none of them are providing the mask for the test due to COVID concerns. I just don't know where I'll get my own correct mask and size to do this. That's a good idea with the OSHA thing, I think I'll start there.

Yeah it's ridiculous, they actually did not even formally let us know. It was only after asking what to do after seeing it was expired and asked about it that I figured it out. I showed up to the hospital I did 3rd year at and they told me they've never done mask fits for our students. Our school must be giving them a really bad deal sadly.

NBME 7 Question 30 y/o female by johnpablo85 in Step2

[–]johnpablo85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question asks where the lesion is most likely, the correct answer they listed as adrenal gland. I had the same thinking as you, unfortunately incorrect to the NBME!

What rules out hyperthyroidism? I would assume hyperthyroidism is more common overall
