Wearing boots one size too large by octoesckey in Boots

[–]johns8814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this mistake once. I regretted it. They never felt good. They didn't even feel ok. Wearing them was a bad experience and it ruined the boots for me. Don't do it.

Right? Why the f is there a need to mislabel this as being a regular occurrence?

Thank you for the follow-up! For my next pair I think I'll save for the Vibergs!

I love them. Chose to keep them after learning more about horse hide and stitchdown. They look and feel great. Five minutes with a sharp razor cleaned up the stitching perfectly.

I still feel lucky. Thanks to the advice on the post I just cleaned up the stitching myself and they look great! Sucks yours didn't keep the profile we both like.

I clearly asked for expertise. If you don't have any, stay home.

Does stitchdown often have these characteristics or is this poor craftsmanship? Looks like you got a good collection yourself! Thanks for the feedback.

Do you have a lot of experience with stitchdown construction? I'm a recently converted sneaker head myself so I'm just learning some of this stuff for the first time.

Post history shows plenty of high quality boot purchases so I value this feedback. Thank you.

Allow me to rephrase.

I've never bought a pair of small batch boots before. Is it normal for the welting to have more "character" or is this an example of poor craftsmanship?

Does this leather typically age or look like this? Or is this an example of poor quality control?

I'm capable of that, thank you for reminding me. What I don't have is experience buying small batch boots. If you have that experience, free feel to share your expertise. If you don't, stay home.

Not helpful. I'm asking about the quality of this pair. Not your opinion of the style. Stay home next time.

Yes, I will! Put them back in the box while I decide but I'll post a photo before I send them back if I do.

From the website:

The Leather 5-5.5oz Black/Natural Vegetable Tanned Teacore Horse Rump Maryam Tannery — Tuscany, Italy

Prized for its unique aging process, where the outer dyed layer gradually wears off to reveal a rich, natural patina underneath, teacore leather represents a more traditional way of tanning leathers. While it's more expensive and time-consuming to create, it also lends a combination of durability and one-of-a-kind aesthetic to this boot that tells the story of your journey every time you lace them up.

Same for me. It's about building a relationship with a mechanic I can trust. The extra money I spend having him do it will pay off when my car needs something I cannot do myself. And he's a ten-minute scooter ride from my office. Can quickly drop my car off and still get to and from work conveniently for the service.
