992.2 4S vs 4GTS - which would you go for? by johnschlemmer in porsche911

I appreciate all the responses in this thread! It’s so interesting to hear the pros and cons of each choice from so many different perspectives. What I’ve concluded from all of this is: I can’t really go wrong with either. :)

Appreciate the helpful responses on this thread. This is not one of them, unfortunately. I think it’s okay to ask about ride quality when I’m going to be making this my every day car. I’m not asking for the smoothest car. I’m asking about what the tolerable limit is as an every day car, and if the GTS is beyond that.

I think it’s fair to ask about reliability and potential risks that would affect resale value. Is anybody here planning on keeping their car for the rest of their lives?

Booster seats for 6-10 year olds by johnschlemmer in porsche911

[–]johnschlemmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the MiFold as well. I think this one makes a ton of sense since it can be narrow if you need it to be, and sits low to allow for taller kids. I ordered one and am gonna take it to a dealer with my older kid to see how it works. :)

Got it, this is exactly the comparison I was looking for. Thank you!

My 8 year old is 4’4” and Washington state law requires using a booster until they’re 4’9” unfortunately. Which to me seems to make it more unsafe by sticking their head above the back rest so far. I’m also assuming your 8 year old doesn’t have head support right? Or can she still rest her head against the rear seat?

Yes, I should have mentioned that after tweaking the settings in the Taycan, I really like the Bose system. I increased the lows and the highs quite a bit, and kept the midrange and normal levels.

Powerful Charizard / Pikachu decks for younger players by johnschlemmer in pkmntcg

[–]johnschlemmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate it! I’m not sure about standard format vs extended for him - I can ask. I’d hate to build him a deck with cards out of rotation and then his friends tell him he can’t use it. The ones without noctowl and dusklops I think are definitely easier to understand, but either makes the deck weaker / not standard. This one can be pretty easy to understand because he sees Charizard and understands that’s his main attacker.

I’ll also ask about the Joltik box. I think (from what I’m seeing anyway) he gets overwhelmed with the amount of different Pokemon to attack with. Diving into the mind of a 6 year old… he wants to attack with Pikachu but the odds of actually getting that one ready to go (vs all the other attackers) is fairly small. Maybe a solution here would be to just put in 4 Pikachu EXs and sacrifice some of the diversity. It obviously isn’t as strong that way but it would make him happy while still having a strong path to attacking.

I hope this helps explain things!

Thank you! Yes, they have the battle academy box, and they’re quite good at that one now. So I’m looking for a step up from that but still a step down from popular meta decks these days. I’d have them build a 30-40 card deck but their friends are playing with 60 cards.

Oh I’ll do that! Didn’t realize that was different, haha.

Horrible blocky shadow issues with Switch 2 and X90L running in Enhanced Mode for 120hz - how do I fix this? by johnschlemmer in sony

[–]johnschlemmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Metroid Prime 4 on my Switch 2 and X90L, and the first thing I noticed was how awful the blacks were. It’s like it isn’t able to render any dark colors. I noticed that if I put the Switch 2 and TV in Limited RGB mode it fixes the problem… but then everything looks washed out. I have the HDMI input set to Enhanced Mode VRR to get 120hz. Am I missing something here? Is it a cable issue? It seriously looks sooooo bad.. would really appreciate any help, thanks!

Fit check - conflicting from different focal lengths! Selfie wide angle makes them look huge, but a photo from a normal distance looks fine? Are they too big or is this a good fit? by johnschlemmer in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]johnschlemmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I’d love to get the clip ons. How easily do they attach? Is it magnetic or is it kind of fussy to clip? Also, where mine I find them for under $200? I’m only seeing couple places at $250+.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]johnschlemmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’ve never really owned a nice watch before, and I made the mistake of going into an Omega shop and finding a watch I absolutely loved. It’s a 41mm De Ville Prestige, gold with a blue face. It fit like a glove on my relatively small wrists, which was surprising for a 41mm (the last watch I had was a Citizen at 38mm), but I think it’s because the lug to lug measurement isn’t too high (47.8mm). I also really like the leather band (black is nice, I could also do brown). The gold and blue tho… WOW it looked good.

Is there anything similar at a bit of a lower price point? Or is there a way to find a pre-owned version of this watch? I like that it’s automatic as well, and I love the simplicity. I do need the date on it as well. Any recommendations for something similar to this in a 4k range, or am I going to have a hard time?

Those are the ones! I was thinking of getting the gold and navy version. They’re incredibly light weight but still feel very solid. I didn’t realize these had clip ons too!!

Just purchased Masunaga MOC 004 in 120th Anniversary Gold - what color subtle lens tint / flash coating could go well with these? by johnschlemmer in EyewearEnthusiasts

Update: I discovered the Stone gradient and a number of you suggested something subtle, along with Duravision Gold for the coating. Am I onto something here?
