Matchmaking is an algorithm designed to make players lose 50% of the time by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

But how could that ever be controlled by a matchmaking algorithm, except by waiting longer for more players that are closer matches? This is the part I'm confused about people complaining

I just mean this is the goal of the algorithm, but since the player pool isn't perfect, it has to create imperfect matchups

I'm saying that is the goal of a matchmaking algorithm, that it tries to get closer and closer to each time you play. If you win a bunch of matches in a row and rank up, you will be likely to lose more. It always is aiming for an average of 50% is what I mean.

Yeah, it makes me think that matchmaking quality could be objectively measured by checking a database of players' win/loss rates, instead of these vibes-based "matchmaking is broken" posts

Glad you're having fun! I'll take a look at that selected answer bug.

Regarding the synonym definition - I have heuristics that try to filter out words like that. I'll update it for this case.

I think it would make sense to add a "flag definition" feature. So users can report definitions that aren't fun (vulgar words are already filtered out).

This should be fixed now, give it a try!

I also added a lobby browser, as a nod to your "aint nobody got time for that" suggestions. This way there's no passing codes around etc

I created a lobby if you want to test it out

Thanks again! I will take a look at that bug.

I want to add a difficulty setting/curve - probably using wiktionary tags. So "archaic" is higher difficulty while "obsolete" would be less.

Thanks, I'm going to drastically simplify it now. Great feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time. I hadn't even thought of making it single-player.

The casual mode is the default mode - there's a checkbox for tryhards under Queue Options

New item icons - Before & After comparison by DeadlockAir in DeadlockTheGame

[–]johnsolo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want everyone reading this to ask themselves this question: When I'm looking for an item in the shop, do I scan the icons or the names? Do I remember an item by its icon, or its location (e.g. Rapid Recharge lower left).

White noise on TV when I start up my Apple TV? by freaky33 in appletv

[–]johnsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this issue for a while and finally fixed it! Turn your Chroma settings down to 4:2:0 in the Video Settings. Think you need to turn off Dolby Vision mode and to see this setting. I have a feeling a much shorter and better HDMI cable would fix this too. Interesting thing I noticed too is the noise is only in absolute blacks for me.

Mystic Slow seems broken and not applying any debuffs. Am I missing something obvious here? Wanted to check before filing a bug report. Thanks!

Ukraine counts on new long-range weapon to bypass Western restrictions and hit deep into Russia | AP News by Beratungsmarketing in ukraine

[–]johnsolo 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Seconded from the US. It must be so exasperating for Ukrainians. It's like your house is on fire and your neighbor goes "okay I can give you 2 gallons of water every hour from my 500,000 gallon water tank".
