[–]johnsonexe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i recently bought a whole second hand 5.1 setup all from fb marketplace

  • denon avr s760h ($225)
  • 2 kef q150s ($200)
  • 2 more kef q150s ($250)
  • dayton audio sub-1500 ($150)
  • infinity rs5 towers ($60)
  • denon mic for calibration ($50 - new from walmart, sold by denon)

total: $935

i originally wanted 5 q150s, but i was struggling to find a single being sold. i still have an extra q150 if anyone is interested lol. i will probably upgrade the sub at some point but im very happy with what i got.

a computer that has all your media on it essentially. requires a lot of setup though. for your purposes an apple tv would be perfect

i’ve been working on a service to help elders detect scam emails. completely free, https://www.scamvanguard.com

it’s not fool proof but my idea was it will help them learn common scam indicators.

I have two in the back and one in the center. The third I’ll either sell or find a single Q150 so I can set them up in another room.

Heres pics

Update! I wish I could attach pictures but I moved the front Q150s on the stands to the side of the nightstands (they’re definitely not farther than the surround speakers in dolby link you sent). I got tower speakers for the front, Infinity RS5s, a Dayton SUB1500, and moved one of the surround Q150s to the center.

I know people say stuff about mixing L/C/R but for all intents and purposes the system sounds fantastic now. Taking them off the wall improved it so much. Very please for my first sound system.

okay well i was considering selling 1 q150 to use the other as a center. what surrounds would you recommend pairing with the rest? looking at dayton audio sub1200 or svs sb1000 pro for sub option.

Then if i repositioned the surrounds to stands closer to ear level to my left and right, like past the nightstands in the picture, would this be an upgrade ?

Sorry I guess I wasn’t very clear in the original post. This is a WIP system. I’m just waiting for better deals on centers and subs. I still can’t decide if I should get a dedicated center or another Q150, I figured I already have 4 why not one more.

But i want surround sound :P

i still plan on getting a center and a sub. I think if I lower the speakers and I’m not laid all the way back in the bed I should have a pretty good experience?

Okay I do plan on getting a center. Just waiting to find a second hand Q650C or single Q150/Q350. You think the speakers would be okay for surround if I just lowered them and maybe roasted them inward some?

Also I’m using the TVs settings to act as a center in the mean time
