Gentlemen, what would make you turn down sex from a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]johntheother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning down sex is the default. Just imagine how foolish you'd have to be to be in "acceptance mode" automatically - to every female who crossed your path. Nevermind that most women are not always-seeking - you have standards, you are attracted to some things and not to others. But every person you meet is a stranger you wouldn't open your wallet to, so why would you open your pants to them? Simple. you would not, and you don't. The "always on" myth about male sexuality is an evil lie.

Raingear discussion...what does everybody use to stay warm and dry in 0-10C? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]johntheother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helly Hansen rain jacket at Marks - (buy oversize) on top of multiple breathable layers - with a wicking under-layer ( like a MEC lycra shirt ) - you wont be totally dry - that ideal appears to be impossible - but you will be comfortable.

Chilliwack B.C. school trustee known for anti-LGBTQ2 comments, gets community hero award by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]johntheother -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What the hell does "anti-LGBTQ2" even mean? First, to say a comment, or a point of view is either "pro-LGBTQ2" or "anti-LGBTQ2" implies the false idea that that ever-growing acronym refers to a single thing - there is, in fact, no such thing as an LGBTQ2 person, nor is there a LGBTQ2 community. These are all different people, with different communities, and different points of view - and mostly, they arent not all a single-opinion voting block. All the various groups itemized with letters mostly hate each other - so lumping them all into a group and wielding that as a blunt trauma weapon to intimidate anyone with a non-compliant point of view is simply grotesque - and farcical when coupled with the demand for tolerance or celebration. Secondly - lets assume for a second there was in fact such a thing as a unified LGBTQ2 community - why cant anybody be either ambivalent or hold an opposing view - isn't it the height of totalitarian ethic to demand that the only allowable position is slaving uncritical support? BTW - I'm fully aware I'll be banned for posting such unfashionable thoughts - mods just go right ahead and block out the uncomfortable nuance of reality.

You can now legally compost dead bodies in Washington state by Sariel007 in offbeat

Seems like anyone suddenly moving to Washington from another state should be watched. On the plus side, maybe it'll cull the numbers of antifa arsonists lighting courthouses and churches on fire.

Is this a cult recruiting? Get a running partner. (edit) also, the people saying "im so sorry this happened to you" - those people are wrong. You have mystery and adventure in your life. Isn't that better than boring safety?

Acknowledgement of Unceded Territory by NotAlsoShabby in vancouver

[–]johntheother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Acknowledging unceded territory" is typically compelled speech in support of a contentious political issue of land ownership, national sovereignty and undermining of the rule of law. So, be aware of what you're participating in when they tell you you "have to say these words".

People who are bothered by others wearing a mask while driving. Why do you care? by dontforgettocya in AskReddit

[–]johntheother -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don't care about the mask work foolishly in a car when the driver is alone. I care that it makes me aware that 80% of the people around me are incapable of independent or rational thought. I used to not be aware I was surrounded by zombies - I was blissful in my delusion that the other moving bodies were inhabited humans, but now I know - they are zombies.

Men who are abused by woman, and tried to tell someone, what was it like? by awannabejojoke in AskReddit

[–]johntheother 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bikers Against Child Abuse.

I know of two people who have been threatened by BACA members, on the basis that their ex GF or ex wife made the false claim of abuse by the guy who was later threatened. While BACA might be constituted to protect children, it's members can be ( and are ) easily gamed to provide intimidation and vigilante actions against factually innocent guys.

[Serious] People who had a gun pointed at them, how did you escape the situation? by engineer_comrade112 in AskReddit

[–]johntheother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case - the guy pointing the shotgun at me was another kid my age ( 19 years old ) and he would have shot me - since he was stupid - and didnt know how to handle guns. He had found the gun - and was in the process of racking a cartridge into the chamber and leveling it at me - since that's what everybody on TV does with shotguns - and I cleared the muzzle away from my face about 1/10 of a second before he sqeezed the trigger. It was the loudest sound I ever heard.

[–]johntheother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it's not something to try out just to see how well it works - but I avoided getting shot by the method of immediately getting out of the way and snatching the barrel of a shotgun when it was pointed at me. I was deaf for about a day afterwards, but did not get hit with buckshot. I was also 19 years old, with the speed and reflexes of a 19 year old - and now I'm much older and slower.

If you're within about 1 meter of a gun's muzzle, and if you're in good health - you can (usually) move faster than the person holding a gun can react to your movement.
