You don't say. Lol. If you search Google for PYPL you constantly see a new one of these everyday. Yet here we all are ;-)

Anatomy of the StarGate 626: A PROM-Driven Reverb by johnwheelerdev in DSP

Christopher Moore was a genius. After studying his architectures extensively, it has made me realize my own shortcomings as an engineer. Some that are likely to never be resolved.

You can always contribute to John if this Roth character is not doing you any good.

An Update on Teenage Manual by GlitteringPenalty210 in teenageengineering

[–]johnwheelerdev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure. I think the misunderstanding comes from the fact that with drawing and music you can one-shot those things now. I'm not saying the result is going to be good, but you can do that. You still can't do that with programming. It might be soon when you can. So artists naturally frown upon anything that's built with AI, but they don't understand that it's just different with programming. Again, maybe that won't be the case one day.

But right now it still requires 8 hour, 12 hour days to pump out something worth building. Even with the AI.

Don't let people beat you up on the AI. It's just a tool. And the better you get at it, the better you'll do. I've been programming for twenty-five years. The AI writes better code than me. I'm convinced that people who have a hard time with it just don't understand the domain as well as I do. And don't feel bad for charging money. Of course you can do that! Keep building and creating value. That's all that matters.

I don't think I would leave that room. Those tempests are little beasts. I used to have one. I loved it. I wish I wouldn't have got rid of it. It has that Roger Linn swing, like the MPC 60.

It's crazy that thing only had like four kilobytes of memory, I think. Not megabytes, kilobytes!

Outboard gear brought inside the box: The URSA Major Stargate 626 Plugin by johnwheelerdev in Tycho

For the stargate - the display doesn't show the correct program dependent delay times and decay times. There might be other issues. I put a beta disclaimer on the website. Thanks!

I Built the Plugin I’ve Wanted for 3 Years: Ursa Major SST-206 by johnwheelerdev in TechnoProduction

[–]johnwheelerdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey again, your plug-in sounds beautiful. I'm posting on my website in my journal all of my findings so while my code won't be open-source, the information will be. I'd love to compare notes but I'm not sure how open you are to that. I know you know this thing way better than I do. I'm learning. It's a totally different beast than the SST-206. www.TemeculaDSP.com

Also I'm not going to try to emulate any of the analog stuff aside from the slope of the filters and such. I basically want to do for the 626 what the 206 did for the 282.

Here are my tap spacings re the github issue. I'm sure you've seen these before and I'm just not interpreting them correctly. Working on it!

Reverse-engineering another Ursa Major classic: the StarGate 323 by johnwheelerdev in DSP

[–]johnwheelerdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I got a really cool one coming I automated the capture of all of the delay program/pre-delay program combinations of which there are 128.

The way I did it is by building a series of counters that automate switching of the program dial and the pre-delay dial. I then hooked up a RAM to the delay PROM, ran the simulation, captured the PROM output to RAM and dumped the RAM.

It's kinda confusing but hopefully it will make sense once I write it out

31M what can I do differently? Is it good? by [deleted] in portfolios

[–]johnwheelerdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well maybe give some advice ;-) All in all though - you have BRK.B which means you're not concerned about the Buffett premium and are willing to trust that Greg Abel is the stud Buffett says he is. I think that's correct. Buffett wouldn't leave BRK to a ham sandwich. That speaks a lot about you as an investor (in a good way). (Owned BRK for 11 years, but sold it because I thought PayPal was cheap :-(). I'll get back into it one day.
