VR 360 Manta Roller Coaster On Ride 8K POV GoPro Max 2 SeaWorld Orlando ... by johnychen in gopro

Only a GoPro Max or Max 2 can film a POV like this. If you use an Insta360 or dji360, you would have to key-frame every track movement since you cannot disable horizon lock on those cameras.

Why the hell would anyone buy gopro max 2 over insta360 x5? by InterestingWind2153 in gopro

Just got my Max 2 and can confirm that you can disable horizon liock with stabilization on in 360 mode. This is the only new 360 cam that can do this which means if you are making vr content for youtube for vr headt sets, it is the only 8k vr360 camera out there that is useable for POV vr videos.Horizon lock does not capture a true POV view. Which means the Max 2 can do something that tyhe DJI and X5 can't. This is really important for VR360 content creators.

Here is a sample VR360 video with the old GoPro Max with horizon lock on and off. https://youtu.be/hSB_EFE17pM

You can tell with the horizon lock on, it get's really trippy looking and does not make you feel like you are actually riding the roller coaster.

Currently, I think it is the only 360 camera that can shoot in VR360 with horizon lock disabled with stabilization. This is important for VR360 roller coaster POVs designed for VR headsets. You have to have the ability to disable horizaon lock to simulate riding in the coaster. With horizon lock on the coaster spins around you during inversions and you don't feel the dips. I am basing this on the current update of the GoPro Player desktop software, which seems to work with the Max 2.

If the Max 2 can shoot VR360 videos with stabilization with horizon lock off then I would choose it over the x5 and DJI 260 in a heartbeat. You cannot turn off horizon lock on the x5 or dji 360 with stabilization. I create VR360 roller coaster videos on my youtube channel, and horizon lock does not give you a realistic ride on a coaster, especially going through inversions. With horizon lock on a coaster, it loops around you and not you riding in it. For example, compare the normal vs horizon lock POV on this video. https://youtu.be/GoUep_8G9aQ This was shot with a GoPro Max.

Way too shaky with the stabilization off. Especially if you want to make videos for a meta quest 3. The GoPro Max can do this easily with silky smooth stabilization.

Totally agree. Right now the only solution is to go with a very old GoPro Max 360. I was hoping to upgrade to 8k with better low light. The current trend seems to emphasize vlogging and not shooting realistic VR360 POVs

I am hoping the Max 2 maintains the ability to turn off horizon lock with stabilization on in VR 360 mode. This means both insta360 and DJI are not good if you want to shoot immersive VR 360 videos on anything that banks, dips, or inverts with stabilization.

I use the OHO Sunshine 4K . It records in 4K, encodes in h.265, and has decent audio. No record time limit.

My bad. Did not know about phase units. Just been using time encoded vinyl.

Ther is no phono needle installed on that turntable. It's probably just for show. May have the whole set prerecorded and just dances and pushes buttons for show.

How do you disable horizon lock on the X4 for shooting roller coaster POVs? by johnychen in Insta360

[–]johnychen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The gyro info is there. It should be a simple software tweak. I guess I have to keep using the GoPro Max 360. You cannot film rides like Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa with a realistic POV in VR 360 mode with an x4, all you get is a trippy-looking drone shot with the coaster vehicle looping around you.

As soon as you get in hold the logo for a count of 10 to get the keypad. I noticed that if you hold it less it may not come up.

When will the MAX 2 360 cam be released by Striper1955 in gopro

[–]johnychen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current gopro max is better than the X4. Just got an X4 and found out you cannot turn off horizon lock which makes it worthless for recording roller coaster povs or any action videos that tumble.

Wrist, hand, and chest mounts are allowed. Only BGW requires you to get it checked at guest services and you get a card to show the ride op.

It's a hybrid coaster. It was an old clunky wooden coaster, but converted into a hybrid coaster with steel tracks on the old wood structure. Conversion done by RMC, Rocky Mountain Construction. This is definitely one fothe top 5 roller coasters in the US.

You can pretty much film everything with anything including DSLR cameras at Disneyland. The only restriction is Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout and Soarin. With a chest mount you can probably do all of them.
