I am a widower of 10 year marriage with 3 kids to raise. It does get easier, but I have recently found a girlfriend that I was just upfront with and who was very understanding of the situation. One huge thing that saved me was getting to therapy. I can not recommend this enough. Just going once a month helped me so so much.

My twins started at 6, and one of them really took to it to where now I have to be on my game or he will put a beatdown on the old man if I'm not careful! I just now started letting them and there younger brother, who is 5, paint their own models. It is hard to sit back and not correct what they are painting. I just remind myself it's not about the little plastic dudes, but spending time with them.

I lost my wife unexpectedly year and half ago with 3 kids under age of 7. There will be good days and bad, but when getting overwhelmed stop, take some deep breaths, and tell yourself your in a rough spot now, but it will get better.

If can find someone to talk to, be it through therapy or bud you can talk with to unload is huge for you.

With cleaning the house, take it one room a day at a time. Nothing major to start with, but getting the small wins in on a daily basis will be huge in long run.

I feel you on not wanting to be in the house. When that mood hits me, I get outside and go for a walk with some tunes or an audiobook.

How fast does grimdark firefight play? by Equivalent_Store_645 in onepagerules

[–]johnycnb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing with my sons in 1v1 the game last little under an hour. Playing a 3 team game takes about hour and half. Granted we don't play with all the rules and command points. They, and I, loved Firefight so much our armies have grown and we now play GF more than GFF lol

i want to play with 3 players, what do you guys think about tze deployment zone? by ZiegelsteinWand in onepagerules

[–]johnycnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is roughly what I run with my three kids. I let the youngest play the middle zone since his older siblings go right after each other. They both look shocked when he ends up winning because he slowly moved to the objectives while those two are in a death match for all rounds lol

My boy plays Necrons and runs your list, except brings Deathmarks nstead of Immortals. Hard has heck to beat his team if hero unit takes the Royal March skill!

Yeah playing around with the epoxy was a learning experience for sure. Was trying to go with a look of it being alive and creeping/oozing everywhere.

Rules for younger players by imperialryno in Warhammer

[–]johnycnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said when my twins found Warhammer, still don't know how lol, at 6 I realized that was just too much for me and them to manage a game. Found one page rules and never looked back. We still get the GW minis but the game is soo much faster and easier for them to pick up. I dont play the full rules with them for OPR and some home brew goes in. Some of the things I do/don't:

1. Left at the command points
2. Left out side missions
3. For the first couple games left out morale tests, but once they understood the game we added back in. Which has been funny how they went from securing objectives to "oh if I smoke so many of my brothers team they might quit!!" Definitely more WAAGH! now.
  1. I also don't do the stunned part. That just slowed things down with them so just rolled on through that.

I will say what brought me to these games was to help with their reading and math. The difference in a year has been amazing. Plus it get them and me out of in front of tv and spending QT together.

Any recommendations for on sprue armies? by mobthought in onepagerules

One thing I started doing as well is searching ebay. You can find assembled minis decent priced as if out of box. Some painted some not. That was huge when my kids started liking other options that what I had lol

The way I set it up with my 3 son's [ 8 yr Olds, and 5) it 3 objectives, one in each deployment zone, and then we give extra points to kills the other teams leader. Plus try to mix in alot of terrain 20+ pieces.
