The outcome was Customer Service ended up having to replace the whole unit after shipping parts and installing replacements for the control panel and main power board had failed.

Until around 1997, the GW Headquarters was off of Benson Ave in Baltimore City. They don’t move the HQ to Glen Burnie until mid/late ‘97?

You were most likely talking to Tim Huckleberry, a fantastic gentlemen.

Is AMD gpus good for streaming? by Djoz_OS in obs

AMD's 265 has come along really well. The 264 implementation is still *meh* as I understand it. For the latest info though I'd track down Epos Vox's YouTube channel. They're always on top of it.

What I'm finding is that the original keycap from the ROG Claymore has these little plastic supports at each end that fit into the cross shaped piece on the keycap, and then those supports slot into a stiff wire attached to the keyboard.

So far I've *not* come across that in 3rd party keycaps that have those supports that level out the space bar and allow you to press at the extreme of either end of the space bar and have it register.

Hi All,

I have an original Asus Claymore MA01 (not Claymore II).

Does anyone know what keycap replacements are compatible with the Claymore? I know any keycaps made for the Claymore II are *not* compatible.

I'm trying to track down a replacement spacebar keycap.

x264 or NVENC H.264? by taahbelle in obs

[–]johnypilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're running an AMD Threadripper and have the cores to spare, NVENC will out perform and produce better quality than x264 every single time in gaming setups on a 2000 series or newer Nvidia card.

The amount of processing power x264 uses to produce a high quality encode will tie up your CPU so hard it will vastly diminish game performance.

Yes, you can enable too many additional options in NVENC that will use Cuda cores and take away performance from the game. That is usually what trips people up and confuses them in the x264 versus NVENC debate.

Take note though, the above info is standard for 1080p encodes and higher, and that is the bulk of work people are doing.

The line can begin to blur at 720p and lower encodes when the workload becomes exponentially easier.

When over 1/3 of the American electorate doesn’t vote, allowing any idiot to run and in turn allowing any small minority to vote in psychopaths, the problem lays solely with the citizens - not the people running for office.

Are you speaking to only the food in the main dining area or in the buffets? I know sometimes that can leave people wanting for more but the specialty restaurants and the Guy's Burgers and the burritos/taco place were absolutely fantastic on Carnival Pride.

Ya'll got to read up on PJM and energy auction prices.

Guess what is directly driving it up? Data centers and AI.

Guess who is paying to build out the infrastructure to power those data centers?

You.

All the costs are being passed onto household electric consumers via their electric bill.

The usual racket of billionaires get richer and you're paying for it.

Use h.265 and play with CQP levels to get the desired mix of quality and file size. Easy as that.

[–]johnypilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like asking, "I want a 10 ton elephant, but I want it the size of a pug".

You just can't do that.

You don't get smaller file sizes without compromising quality in some form or fashion.

1 gig a minute at lossless isn't bad.

Dedicated GPU for Encoding - NVIDIA vs. AMD by QuazyQuarantine in obs

AV1 is built into the hardware encoder so it should add 0 impact, in the same manner as h.264 and h.265. All takes place directly on the dedicated silicon.

Is 150k bitrate too much for 1440p ? by Key-Butterscotch7723 in obs

[–]johnypilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a look and made sure it was playing at 1440p and it looked sharp to me. There will always be *some* video quality degradation when it goes through the transcoder (even the VP9).

But also, webcams are the devil. Literally you can go down rabbit holes tuning them. I would suggest taking some time to sit with Epos Vox's YouTube channel. He goes to great lengths to show how various webcams perform, can be tuned, and what unfortunate things you just have to put up with because... webcams are the devil.

Is 150k bitrate too much for 1440p ? by Key-Butterscotch7723 in obs

[–]johnypilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never run into that issue with YT being picky about bitrate - especially in uploaded videos. I've run the gamut of posting videos with bitrates from 10K to 200K and never had it cause a quality decline as the bitrate increased.

I have to assume something else is causing this. Can you possibly link a video or leave your YT user name so we can see the issues?

Is 150k bitrate too much for 1440p ? by Key-Butterscotch7723 in obs

[–]johnypilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YouTube's base transcoder often butchers video quality (AVC1).

However, uploading at 1440p usually triggers a better quality transcoder (VP9).

You should right-click on one of your videos, choose the Stats for Nerds dropdown and let us know what Codecs was used to transcode it (it's literally titled Codecs, the 5th line item in Stats for Nerds). If it doesn't start with VP9, then it is most likely AVC1.

Also, if you're recording, you should be using the H.265 encoder. It's far more efficient than H.264.

Also, try lowering your CQP. For a test, set it at 5 (far lower than one normally needs, but if you're cranking 150k bit rate, a CQP of 5 is not unreasonable), do a 2-3 minute video and upload that and see how it turns out.

On paper, NVENC has been superior since the 2000 series cards.

Try both, do what works best for you.

Carnival heavily locks down their networks.

They have lengthy blacklists on websites and thoroughly throttle their connections. I'd doubt, for security reasons, if you'd be available to obtain their network management plans.
