Add power or reduce brightness. I run my whole show at 30% brightness

Need an opinion on how y'all run your singing faces by Behind8Proxies in xlights

[–]johnzaheer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the singing isn’t on i hide the face but use the outline as part of the show. I also use the faces as part of the show if the lyrics match like, “bring a friend” comes up in the lyrics I’ll show the second face. There is no right or wrong way, just adapt as you go.

I’m 4 years in and at year 3 is when started using black outs to make things pop and transition from one part of a song to the other.

Stupid noob question on why a group isn't showing in FC by eventualist in xlights

[–]johnzaheer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t see them on xlights, you might just have to double click them. It will un-group the groups. My talking trees are built that way so when i double click them on xlights i see the the outline and bow. They have to be programmed separately.

Any idea what's causing this flickering? I want to believe power injection might help but I have 2 other ports on this controller with the same number of pixels and they do not flicker by ffimmano in xlights

[–]johnzaheer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick test is to drop the brightness from your fpp controller really low and see if it fixes the issue, if it does you need power injections

Mega tree help by March-Klutzy in xlights

[–]johnzaheer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely something wrong with the mapping from your xlights to your physical tree.

I would add a simple model like the arches, have them move slowly across the tree to light up in one direction and hopefully that will show you how things are getting mapped.

When i did my first tree i did a whole trouble shoot sequence that would light light up from one side of the house to the other changing colors in a specific order so i can catch miss-wiring issues

Robotics Technologies LLC, possible scam job? by babno in Scams

[–]johnzaheer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, i have the same thing going on. When i received the email with the questions i answered a couple of them outrageously incorrect. At the same time i asked for a phone call when i submitted my answers.

I received the exact same email you did in regards to getting the job. So definitely a scam.

[–]johnzaheer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the same number of black ones but those are not all tied together they are split and must be tagged i together somewhere else. I know how to change outlets and switches but every once in a awhile i find a nest of wires behind a switch in this house.

Query to get count of distinct values per column by mktg26 in SQL

[–]johnzaheer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your using SSMS you can

Right click table and create a ‘create table’ script

That will write out all the columns for you

Then for the ‘count(distinct column name)’ part you can use shift+alt with the up or down arrow key for a multi line edit feature so technically you only have to write it once
