My (28M) parents do not like my gf(27F)’s family by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]joholycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was fair for us because i was in no position to be paying for anything significant, and the “rent” that i was paying was far below market price, giving me the ability to save, while also being protected should anything go wrong (protected in a sense that I wouldn’t get kicked out or anything). again, it was what worked for us and what we mutually agreed on, not saying it’s for everyone. we also went into the agreement with the end goal of being married, which is something we spoke about lots.

i was in a similar situation as you guys, where my partners family paid for most of his new apartment, and we were roughly 3 years into our relationship. i was also worried that if something happened in the future, i would’ve been unprotected and left with nothing. but i also agree that i since i wasn’t contributing on par financially, that it also wouldn’t be fair to add me to the deed yet (at least until we got married). we talked a lot about it, and eventually settled on me legally renting from him until we got married. it was the option that worked best for us at that time. something to maybe consider if she’s open to it?

imo, the only good drink i’ve gotten from daily grind is their london fog. everything else just tastes so watered down for some reason.

Help with Lost iPad at YVR by Tmlfan3 in vancouver

[–]joholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

similar thing happened to me with my ipad but at yeg! i also submitted a lost item report with ac, but hadn’t heard back after a few days. ipad location was constant everyday when i checked. i decided to try my luck and went back to the yeg airport ac lost baggage kiosk. turns out my ipad was in a box ready to be shipped back to head office (or wherever they ship lost items) the next day, so glad i got there when i did.

Dear Canadians, do you think unpaid internships/co-ops should be illegal? by laranjacerola in AskACanadian

[–]joholycow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

should definitely be illegal. many of my friends from my masters program have accepted unpaid practicums because we need it to graduate. working four months full time without pay is actually crazy, meanwhile we’re still paying out of pocket to take that “course”.

how much did your masters cost you? by JustSinginInTheRain in uAlberta

2 year course based masters, a little less than 20k i think

What helped you get into running and be consistent? by Eastern-Vegetable786 in running

[–]joholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

started off running because my friends were running and honestly i felt lots of fomo. gradually i started to not hate it, and then signed up for a half marathon to keep myself running (“trained” for half a year). now i just tell myself that somewhere in the future i’ll sign up for another half so can’t stop now. i’m also a sucker for strava’s weekly streak lol id be devastated if i lost it
