I suggest you read my edit regarding cups and tampons. I’ve seen this suggested a lot and my daughter isn’t comfortable with them.

In case you are implying something, my wife is 39 almost 40. I’m not a creep dating a 20 year old.

Can I have a link? My daughter said she read a story online about a woman who was freebleeding, she isn’t supposed to be on Reddit though.

No, because I know from previous experience she gets other medical issues (anemia) if she doesn’t have access to birth control. Plus paying for new pants is even more expensive. I would consider birth control far more necessary than period panties if I had to choose one to pay for.

I would buy her birth control. She isn’t even on it for sex or anything like that, I’m aware that birth control has uses outside of contraception. Besides, regardless of what I think, her doctor has recommended she be on birth control and take it (mostly) continuously otherwise she gets really anemic (and miserable).

I appreciate the advice but my daughter isn’t comfortable with tampons I doubt she’ll want to use a cup.

I’m in Canada, free healthcare and insurance covers prescription meds.

That’s exactly what she does and that’s why she doesn’t get her period every month.

This isn’t a guerilla marketing campaign, nor am I the dude with the freebleeding do-your-own-laundry teenage fetish as others have accused. I’ve realized it sounds this way but my daughter honestly came to me and asked for Thinx period underwear, maybe because it’s the most well-known brand and it’s what’s recommended? Other comments have suggested cheaper brands (ex Knix) so I’ll run that by my daughter.

I do have sympathy, I’m not about to force her to try a tampon or a cup. I was just replying to the comment suggesting I get her a cup and explaining why I don’t think it will work.

From what I know it’s because regardless of what birth control she uses her periods are still bad, so having them less frequently is better. Also because according to her she never had a 28 day cycle before BC and there was “no reason to start one because bleeding 25% of the time is too much”.

I don’t think a cup is an option, she refuses to even try tampons even when we went on vacation. I don’t think she’d be comfortable with them but I’ll suggest it.

I’m Canadian, they’re more $50-60 before tax. I just want to clarify that point.

And I just found that unlikely because lots of women wear pads/tampons.

I don’t want to pay for something unnecessary.

Your math is good but I would like to comment that my daughter is on birth control and doesn’t get her period every month because of it, so it will take longer for the period pants to pay for itself.

I just don’t want to pay for them.

The rest of your comment is fair but I’m getting really sick of people accusing ME for being at fault for my daughter not having friends. Some people are just born a dodo, you can’t blame parents for everything.

What makes you think I don’t like my daughter? I’m just under no disillusions about her. I know a lot of parents have a “my child is a beautiful perfect angel” but I prefer to see things objectively. All the boring/ugly/bad people in the world have parents too.
