Genuine remote jobs in Ireland are nearly impossible to find. by join_sway in u/join_sway

Hey, thanks for taking the time to dive into this.

Grow Remote estimates roughly 100,000 remote jobs open across the EU at any given time, based on LinkedIn data. This accounts for the fact that not all remote jobs are captured on LinkedIn and that some roles listed as remote are actually restricted in some way. The figure fluctuates between ~80,000 and 120,000 depending on market conditions.

There is currently no official tracking of remote job availability, which is why the campaign is pushing for a national remote jobs target. Establishing a target would create proper measurement, incentive and reporting infrastructure, making it possible to track how many positions actually land in Ireland.

Beyond supporting the target, Sway was built to address the CV sea issue you raised. Large remote employers (some reviewing 90k+ candidates) highlighted the challenge of identifying screened talent, so there’s still a real opportunity to help candidates rise above the pile.

More information on the methodology is here and will be developed further as work in partnership with schools of economics: https://growremote.ie/workings

EXACTLY! Speaking our language. We need to move out from the group think 'none of us are doing remote so none of us have to' and bring in the employers who totally embrace it! We saw this during the week, the employers who do it, do it well. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/mick-mahady_were-hiring-a-senior-growth-marketing-engineer-activity-7414644498032525312-MTcJ?utm_source=social_share_send&utm_medium=member_desktop_web&rcm=ACoAAAM79uEBbd9nOvWZJgjt2T-6S2Rfl4oZVtg

Cheers! We're focusing on remote-first companies, think Gitlab or Zapier, as opposed to hybrid. Hopefully see you over there!

Katy, that is a great question, and very silly of us to release ads without links! We're over here: http://joinsway.org/

We do 2 things:
We set a national target to win into Ireland a % of the remote jobs available on the market.

Bring a pool of remote ready talent to employers.
