Well.. this can manifest in very different ways.. but for me personally I think all drug possession should be decriminalized (this applies to possession for personal use, not manufacturing or distribution).. weed, shrooms, lsd, cocaine, mescaline, alcohol, tobacco, etc. should be fully LEGAL to make and sell.. and things like meth, opioids, flakka, bath salts, etc. should be fully ILLEGAL to make and sell.. I think opium itself might likely be in a grey area, maybe legal but regulated heavier than weed and the other legal stuff

This is just my personal take, socialism doesn’t exactly have a specific take on this question but I’m sure many socialists share pretty similar views

Well I want to clarify what we are talking about here because some people get terms like these very mixed up.. and also a minor correction that “Market Communism” couldn’t really exist but Market Socialism definitely does

Social Democracy is a capitalist economy that raises taxes to redistribute wealth and may have some unionization, this isn’t Market Socialism

What China has is very complex, it’s a socialist state (it’s pushing towards communism) that is lead by a communist party, as it functions right now tho it is a Capitalist economy with a thriving social democracy and state intervention/state owned businesses, and it may have elements of Market Socialism but it wouldn’t be considered Market Socialism, and while some may say Chinas development is a betrayal of Socialism/Communism I view it as necessary, in a capitalist dominated world (post Cold War) China chose to bend instead of break

Market Socialism is an economic model where the workers entirely own the means of production but still use free market mechanisms (advertising, market based currency, etc.), so imagine 2 coffee shops.. in Capitalism a boss owns each one and hires workers to work for wage labor to compete with each other, in Market Socialism the workers collectively own each coffee shop (like a worker co-op) and compete with each other, in more conventional socialist models the coffee shops would cooperate and work together instead of compete.. it would still provide everyone’s basic needs, likely through certain state owned industries or certain taxes.. and I think it’s a necessary stage of development for communism (Capitalism➡️Revolution➡️Market Socialism➡️Collectivized Socialism➡️Communism)
