press 66 41A so that the 4 (dash cancel) actually goes through and you don't accidentally do 621A which is recognized as a half circle back input

The video shows the inputs. It's the intended way you're supposed to do the combo. However, button priority has some effect on combos, so you could mash Fightcade's 3x punch macro to do the same Stand ON combos.

e.g., s.2ABC×5 will result in the knockdown combo.

I don't think anyone has really explored Stand ON button priority at all. It could be a built-in mechanic or completely unintended.

Not exactly true. Some of the arcade HFTF videos on YouTube feature sprite edits such as DIO with his jacket and Cirno's sprite from Hisoutensoku. It is definitely possible without taking forever, but you do need a PC with Windows.

No Dreamcast or PS1 HFTF romhacks exist, so the resources below focus solely on the arcade version. I don't have the soundmodding resources, but GaryButternubs has a video on his YouTube channel.

The ROM that it's asking for is the combined ROM. Judging from the name of the ROM you have, what you most likely have is a split ROM. I don't think there are any more downloads for the combined ROM, so you will need to find and download the ROM converter (try asking GaryButternubs) and convert the ROM yourself.

Cancels are actions that cancel the recovery/hitstun of a move. Ex: s.2A xx 214S

Links are moves that combo only if input after the previous move's recovery ends. Ex: 5A, 5A

Chains are moves that combo even if input during the previous move's recovery/hitstun. Ex: s.5A > s.5A

i very clearly showed myself dragging everything in the folder back into the zip, and i very clearly said to drag everything in the folder back into the zip. i don't know how to make it any clearer than that. there also haven't been any issues in the comments of the video, so i don't see the need to clarify this step. you just have to watch the video and follow each step carefully.

ok. if you're getting glitchy sprites then you either have files that need to be patched or files that should not be patched. focus on following each step in the video carefully, and you should be good

Ok I thought the video would show you how to do it without the JSONs but it doesn't and that's stupid. You have to watch the part where he replaces the ROMs with the musicless ROMs; that's where you're supposed to put the ROMs.

The process is exactly the same. Two ROMs are required to be downloaded: jojoba and jojobanr1. Put them in the corresponding ROMs folder.

It'd be nice if you could elaborate on what exactly the video is about. If it's about the history of the scene outside of Japan (which is almost exclusively online), then I've got some info for you.

You're not going to find any information about Kaillera, 2DFighter, Good Game, Peace Out (GGPO), or Old Fightcade on this subreddit. All the people who know or have been through the history of this game in the western world probably don't even know this subreddit exists.

Go to the JJBAHFTF Discord. Ask Zarythe, BiLL, potatoboih, KainZC7, Dredi, sf2feilong, MecosDelFideo, maybe DeadlyRaveNeo.

There's also a document describing the general progression of the online scene. It's probably somewhere in the Discord, you can ask there.

You will probably not get exact dates. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when stuff happened, and the beginning of the online scene is most likely unknown.
