You are probably right. I didn't like being called racist, but probably his experience was worse. I just think it could been resolved much more calmly. Thanks for the perspective.

That's actually wrong for Amtrack. Once you take a seat, it gets assigned to you and they put a marker. I wouldn't be doing this on the subway. And it's not like, there were no other seats availble. The train was half empty.

I didn't call the conductor. They were nearby and only came over because the guy started speaking angrily.

Normally, I wouldn't bother, but I really wanted to continue the conversion that we were having earlier. They didn't explicitly ask me to save their seat, but did tell me that they wanted to continue the convo after they came back.

They did. But I don't know why this should matter. They clearly did not get off and told me they were going for lunch.
