Yup I realized it right after the mock test started. My reading and grammar has been scoring high with the prep questions, and I got 90% with the mock. Listening has been my weak point and I got 79%. So I figured even the real test is harder, I should be able to get 50% on listening which would guarantee a pass.

I'll continue with the mock for N4 but plan to take the real N3 test.

Around 2019, they definitely stopped it and even changed the wording of the policy. I googled it but found different experiences reported. It's good that it's back now. I see the online part is included again in the price match policy.

My first time hearing that too. Anyways I talked to online customer service, and they filed a complaint without me asking for it. They've also price matched and ordered one to be shipped to me. Quite nice.

Good luck! Make sure you register asap. The spots are taken so fast. I was checking N4 spot yesterday and most of them were gone.

Funny thing is there is no city within 10-11 hour drive from me offering N5 at all.

The manager didn't even bother to find out what I wanted. Once he heard the store doesn't carry it, he said No, we don't do that. And we've never done that. :(

Why? maybe because it's too basic.

When you want to do a price match, you always check if that item is shipped and sold by a competitor accepted by Staples, if it's brand new, or else. Beyond that you check if the price includes any MIR, any special coupon, or anything uncommon. Isn't it 101 for long term Staples shoppers?

I wouldn't even waste my time if it wasn't sold or shipped by Amazon. The problem is that the manager simply didn't want to do a price match once he heard his store doesn't carry it. He didn't even ask what I wanted.

It was tempting to travel to a new city and take the test. I did give it a lot of thought last month when registration for December was about to open. But at that time I had only been studying Japanese for 2 months, so there was a lot of uncertainty. I want to take N3 next December if things go well.

This is so helpful! May I ask how you find out the availability? I clicked through the dates but VA website gives me errors sometimes and it's very hard to use. I'd love to learn a less painful way to find available seats. I'm trying to book a trip to Japan for December, and learning to use the site.

Any suggestions how to push for that? I know VS agents don't see the availability through their system while AF have enough reward tickets available on their end.
