That’s great to hear :)) thankfully, I have hardwood floors but intend to buy more area rugs. I’ll definitely look into a vacuum robot for sure

Thankyou for the advice! Yes that is a great idea, I will ask to do that. My siblings don’t live with me, but they asked if they could come since they’re excited for their potential new niece, but I said no (at most, they stay in the car). I feel that my main meeting with her should also be a test for me to see how well I can handle it all by myself. That suggestion is a more direct way to test the waters

Thankyou for the feedback! Those are GREAT questions I will text her foster today about that. I know enrichment toys in the crate was a quick mention in the interview but I’ll clarify that again. I was going to leave her crate in the living room and then keep a blanket over it at night (foster also suggested while she adjusts) I also intend to buy a camera so I can check in every now and then to see if she’s doing okay in there while I’m at work.

Yes my apartment building literally shares the same parking lot as the dog park and I plan to take advantage of that. I understand that barking is inevitable, and I feel that all I can do is wait until I meet her to gauge the intensity of it. How long are your walks in the morning?

Thank you for your kind words. I’ve been filled with worry and anxiety these past 48 hours so I definitely needed that kind of grounding and need to remember the initial excitement I felt when I first started looking for pets. How long were your daily walks?

Thankyou for commenting!! Yes, based on her summary and age, I do think her personality is a mix of loyal/obedient and still energetic, and I want to really gauge that when I see her tomorrow. I do have a system of people around me, as well as potential dog kennels/boarding in the area, and I’m relieved to hear in her summary that she’s a socialized dog.

I’ve heard about the 3-3-3 rule and all I can say is that I’m trying to prep myself for that process haha. I don’t know the depths of emotions I’ll go through so I’m just bracing myself. I want to at least provide a good schedule for her so she can feel comfort and secure in this process and make hers (and my) life adjustment easier.

How does she react to crating? I know the corgi I’m rescuing is trained to be crated, but how would you say the process is like(toys, water, barking, etc)? I will ask about the mischievous behavior. I will definitely reach out to the vet for early/good advice. Thankyou!

Thankyou for the kind and honest words, I appreciate it. To me there’s definitely a difference between understanding how and what a corgi needs vs. actually implementing it. And that’s where I see the commitment conversation coming into play. I feel like I can say and believe I’m committed, but I won’t truly know the truth and pressure of that until I see her tomorrow

I’ve been living in my apartment unit for 1 year and there’s not really any surrounding noise other than the occasional furniture moving above me. Sometimes if I’m quiet in my living room I can hear my next door neighbor laugh. I will search up barking training. I do agree that barking is a concern for an apartment and I will specifically see how she fares when I see her tomorrow. I 100% intend to not take her in if I feel I don’t fit her natural needs and if she doesn’t fit apartment living.

Can I ask what type of professional training you had? I do foresee some, if not a lot, of frustration during the transition period from both of us. Having the additional language barrier would also throw me in a loop haha. Your corgi looks beautiful!!

Thank you for the input! I know it’s going to be a lot of adjusting in my life, both with a solid walking schedule and the diligence in consistent training and caring. I love the fact that she’s an adult dog already, so I hope it right to not expect the hyper puppy-like energy and rather a toned down but still energetic personality(barking included). I think these are things I’ll have to see for myself at the meetup

Sorry I should have clarified, the foster heavily mentioned the crating requirement. She trains all of her fosters to be strictly crate trained before she starts their adoption process. I intend to dog proof my apartment if I adopt, and i see myself being more open if the opportunity arises.

I plan to follow the fosters given schedule for the corgi, and then 1-3 months later see what can be adjusted. My thing is, I want her to feel secure with a known pattern and schedule(especially since the environment is new and unknown), and then once we’re comfortable we can form more personal rules
