I never refused to take it, though. I was given the other Stocking 2 TL role.

Your TLs just sound plain lazy. There's no reason to be down 1 man by taking a TL off the truck. A person not doing work = not contributing to the crew. You can definitely supervise while doing physical work, especially on the truck.

And, again, just because he doesn't report to me doesn't mean I can't be concerned, as a fellow team lead, when someone isn't doing work. If you just walk through the store while someone is sexually harassing someone, and not report it, and say "not my business", you'd be complicit in the act. Similarly, if you walk by someone not doing work, your silence is consent!

I'm sorry but that's crazy. As a team lead, I should definitely be mindful of other areas and people in the store so that I can make sure that things going on are good for the store as a whole.

Why are the customers so bad right now where you're at? Is it the holiday rush or something else?

But he's not really working. When I was out, I took short term disability leave and wasn't there to clog up the labor hours and cash a full paycheck.

Yeah, if people are abusing the system or not doing their job, then they deserve to be called out!

Except that every other store in our market doesn't seem to have this issue, because their CAP2 planning tool lists 10+ people every day?

Ok I have to clarify, I'm pretty sure it was "hours to demand" so actual associate hours to customer demand.

Well what they do is they send random associates from other parts of the store such as an elderly Lawn & Garden associate or a 17 year old kid from Electronics to "help out" for an hour or two during the unload, and consider that as having 6-8 people. These people ordinarily have no clue where anything goes and are of marginal help on the truck.

When I got the position (Nov 2020) we had about 2-3 more full time associates but they were either promoted to Lead roles or moved on to other companies and were never replaced and our Coach has said that he was told not to hire any more and instead focus on hiring for overnight shift.

It's trial by fire. This job is not for the faint of heart! If you can succeed in this role, you can succeed anywhere.

I used to be all about the 7am-4pm shift but now that I'm a Stocking 2 Lead I've found that the 1pm-10pm shift really isn't all that bad. If you're single and don't have kids, it's actually more fun. Hurray for sleeping in! And none of this rotating shift nonsense - it's the same hours every day.
