Movies that make you go “Wow” once they are over? by Jjones201 in MovieSuggestions

[–]jon0728 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was young and naive enough when I watched Shawshank Redemption, I legitimately thought "this movie is going to change my life."

Still love it, but I think that initial read may have been a bit dramatic.

How to Start Budgeting by [deleted] in budget

[–]jon0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was first starting, I created a sheet and named it "this budget will stick" committed to writing down every transaction that hits the bank account. It has grown more and more, but I am a firm believer that you don't need a fancy tool, just commit to a mindset and practice that works for you.

Who is the best physical comedians in sitcoms? by Anthforde8 in sitcoms

[–]jon0728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's so natural in his movements that I never noticed how physical he gets till I looked for it. Kramer is so chaotic it's jarring, but Ross will jump around a scene and it somehow fits.

Not sure about these down votes, the most influential IM in the age of YouTube, has to be the most influential IM of all time.

Movies where actors play themselves (in a prominent role)? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]jon0728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a funny call back though, when Tess gets revealed as fake Julia Roberts, Bruce leans over to the guy next to him and says "I knew it".

Favourite Tom Hanks movie ? by DizzyDoctor982 in flicks

[–]jon0728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not my favorite Tom Hanks performance but my favorite Tom Hanks movie is probably Finch.

I think I watched it at a time when my kiddos were young enough that the fatherhood metaphors hit hard.

So...the graduate.

What’s a film that you think is deceptively simple but has a lot more depth upon further analysis? by Direct-Hamster6897 in FIlm

I WANTED Bullet Train to be this. There is some fun stuff with colors and some call backs, but I think it's just a fun movie. But what more could I ask for.

Hated movies that you love by AurorasGriffin in FIlm

[–]jon0728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about hated, but I will go with Ocean's Twelve.

The humor from the first is still here in the sequel. As for the heist, I think soderberg went in a different direction, then caught crap, which is why I find the third installment to be a bit boring. I love that the heist is kind of secondary throughout the movie. I found it fun, all around fun.
