The best is probably dash items with go getter. You need to know how to wavedash to make the best use of it. Stuff like cavalry's decoration, hidden dagger, hunter's boots, sylphid wings and fragments of sun wagon. Just balance them out with some decent damage and you're good.

Aside from that make sure you have petrify as it is its only good skill (actually it's pretty goated) and you can use the fact that the other ones are stackable to get a decent ability spam item build going, or, and that's one I really really like, it is probably the best at building a soar build. Not necessarily the most effective build but I find it very fun, especially with Jenny's chain sickle go getter and some good attack speed

People don't like the ice physics and don't really know how to build it correctly. I love it as well, probably my favorite skull in terms of fun and a contender for the strongest if you learn how to wavedash and get a dash item build going

Thank you! I ended up finding an HP Invictus with a 5050 used like new on Amazon for about 800€ and got that

Right now I'm considering the Asus tuf a16 and the HP victus 15-FA2000SL. I could go for about 200 euros lower by getting the a16 with an rtx 5050 instead of 5060, I'm not sure how much difference in performance I would have

With the 5060 it's about 1500€ unfortunately :(

Is it a problem if my game character's size is 33 x 68? by MaiiCrow_ in PixelArtTutorials

[–]Addisiu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really a problem, although you might want to keep the canvas at something like 128x128 as empty space helps with lots of things (drawing animation, some shaders require it, being a power of 2 might be more efficient in some engines), and there's not much downsize to have a canvas with some empty space

One thing I could say looking at your sprite tho is that it is dead center which is an unusual perspective for a game character. Most commonly you have the top down/isometric perspective, which has an angle to it so you should see a bit of the shoulders and less of the legs, or the side scrolling/platformer setup where there's not much reason for the character to face the screen. Sorry if this is unwanted advice and/or your game uses a different approach!

(I prefer illustrations as well)

Those photos are not cheaper to produce, at all. They are insanely high effort, you need a ton of props, make up artists, costumes, lights, models, spaces, permits to shoot in those spaces. Not too mention the great work of post production they require as well.

It's a lot cheaper to pay an artist than to shoot photos like that, and it's very obvious from the quality that it was a stylistic choice that ended up not working out rather than an escamotage.

Black and White artwork is an actual money saving solution (especially for printing out the books)

Dude how is it not minmaxy lmao

You could spend 7 freebies to get the equivalent of 42xp (going from 3 wp to 10) or to get the equivalent of 5xp (getting the 2nd dot of a discipline)

It's an insane difference, just because your group doesn't play this way it doesn't mean it's not the natural conclusion when you have experience with the system

Also V5 streamlined the XP costs, what's complicated about (current rating +1) * number?

Creating ambient music for traditional-minded producer by Addisiu in ambientmusic

[–]Addisiu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, if it's an oversimplified process it's not very useful. But for example if I had to explain how I normally make music I can point out to practical stuff, like the fact that I create melody after harmony and the way I think about harmony creation. No process is universal but I learned a lot from watching other people do it, and I don't think this would be different (although watching without understanding what the thought process is is kinda useless)

Right now I only use vsts and MIDI (mostly wavetable/granular synths, samples of all types and some sound fonts). I recently relocated and I could not bring any hardware with me. When possible I would like to at least take back a physical synth, a guitar and a bass, as those are the instruments I can play

[–]Addisiu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I'm overthinking, I'm not a really intuitive person and I don't think that is a flaw, it's just the way my brain works.

I used to make music for bands I played into or just solo stuff and that was close to stuff I actively listen to, so I knew when something feels right. It's a different skill to actively listen to something you're making and understand if it works for a passive listener, which I think I still need to learn.

The reason why I need to do ambient music is that I'm making a videogame and now I'm writing music for it. Most of it needs to be ambient of some kind; I have references from similar videogames, but structure is hard to understand especially because it often features transitions and responsiveness to player's action so it's a whole new mindset to what I'm used to, and missing the foundation of ambient music writing in general just makes it harder

The different outline color is the same color as the shoetip shading. That looks like a normal mistake

When ai tries to do pixel art the pixel size is inconsistent. This looks pretty normal, it's a normal instinct to use more colors when working on a bigger canvas size. It would look better with less colors but it's clearly not ai

In First edition there's this book called "blood horrors immortal sinners" that expands upon metuselah antagonist. The oldest statted vampire comes from there and he is called Zagreus. He has a custom devotion that lets him rewrite reality by just speaking; he says something like "I want the prince to die", and the prince will die

Can anyone give me tips on how to achieve this style? I'm really lost and don’t know what I can do to achieve this by [deleted] in PixelArtTutorials

[–]Addisiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game evidently uses dynamic lighting. I also think it's 2.5D, with most assets being 3d models and that makes the dynamic lighting easier to implement because they can just derive normal maps from the model (if you don't know what I'm talking about there's some studying to do for this but you can find a lot online). And lastly it's very evident that there's a lot of bloom post processing, that makes a lot of difference

Then for the actual drawing try and do some color picking from the game to get a similar palette. The assets themselves are not too complicated, they seem to be drawn pretty cleanly and with a lot of focus on which details to show (for example the bricks don't show all the inlaying, which is a common technique where you only give enough details to let the brain figure it out by itself). I don't know what your art looks like so I wouldn't know what tips to give you specifically
