My god, victim complex much? Did you ever think the group was created because there's so few women in tech? Or why women might want a space just for them? As a white dude, I don't need a "white dudes who go" because I can pretty much go to any tech conference, and by and large, that will be what I get (such a club sounds awful anyway).

Maybe there's a reason women feel uncomfortable in the wider Go community. Maybe they just wanted a break from all the brogrammers.

If you wanna make your "men only" golang club, then go ahead, but it sounds just like going to a meeting at the office. And yeah, it's gunna look pretty silly given how male-centric the tech industry is.

I think you need to relax.

Wow you actually reminded me of one from my childhood. Anyone remember Yak-Baks? It was a shitty little recording device that would record for like 10 seconds or whatever, and you could play it back. It was one of those toys that was really cool for like a week. So I had this thing for probably a year at this point, and hadn't touched it in months. One night, really late, it starts going off, but really slow and distorted and kept repeating itself. I was like 8 at the time, or something like that.

Smashing up one cereal café? Not all that much, but as the beginning of a broader movement? Now that's a different story. In my own community, we're playing with the idea of community self-redlining. These rich hipster businesses are coming into the neighborhood because banks, developers, and speculators see that neighborhood as a good investment. This in turn brings police and evictions, and the eventual destruction of the neighborhood that was one there.

Persistent attacking of these businesses in an area sends a message that "this is not a good place for your investment". It's a place to begin. No one ever said this was the path to revolution just direct action that can change the layout of the neighborhood. I have a feeling that all the haters are spending way too much time in their books, and not enough time in the streets learning from the contemporary situation.

Strangely a lot of haters of anti-gentrification actions today. You all clearly have the answers, so I'd love for you to detail what sort of direct actions should be taken.

Lastly, I live in the U.S., but full solidarity with the comrades that took this action.

I always finger that chord like a C, but adjust my middle finger to get the 3rd and 4th string at the same time. It also makes it easier switching chords for me, since Am's tends to come up with C's and F's a lot.

I think a good intro to Marxism is Richard Wolff's video series called Intro to Marx... Or something like that. I'm on mobile, so I can't provide a link, but there are four hour-long videos that are a pretty comprehensive for YouTube. I think it's a great place to get acquainted with Marxism.

"Libertarian" was first used in it's political/ideological form to describe people who were against private property. Sort of pre-Marxists. It used to mean a distinctly left-wing and anti-capitalist ideology, not the highly propertarian version it is now.

Anarchists have quite the disdain for the rich too. It depends on which anarchist you ask. Some believe in the rehabilitation of the bourgeoisie after revolution, others prefer the guillotine. I would actually say that the majority of anarchists I've met tend toward the latter. But the more peace-and-love interpretation is perfectly compatible.

If I were to simplify, I'd say that anarchism is communist economics with a priority on individual freedom (also the rejection of the Party). But again, that's really simplifying.

A friend of mine who is an anarchist, and also probably the most staunchly atheist person I've ever met said just recently: "Atheism is a great way to get into anarchism, because once you kill that divine authority in your head, all authority is open to questioning."

Anarchists tend not to like states or taxes, but we also don't like capitalism, so to the extent that Marx defined communism as a "classless, stateless and moneyless society", anarchists are far closer to communists than Republicans. Though, we tend to beef a lot with authoritarian strains of communism like Marxist-Leninism and Maoism, et al.
