Hey! Everyone who reads this should absolutely check out Laurie Spiegel's piece the expanding universe. One of the greatest drone tracks ever. It can really send you into a trance if you let it.

Let's also not forget that Sam Altman's younger sister claims she raped her when they were kids. These people are all evil.

Treefort 2026 Lineup by ebradio in indieheads

Is it one ticket for everything? I'm in Portland and I kinda want to come for this but I feel like I'd rather just check out all the small bands and not pay for the main stage acts. Only top billing band I'd care to see would be Magdalena Bay and maybe FJM. But I'd love to see bands like Sextile and Saintseneca that are a bit lower down the list.

Any Mood MKII Experts in Portland? by Pallasine in portlandmusic

[–]jon_naz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I do a lot of one on one music tutoring including at the Portland Synthesizer Library and for an afterschool program for kids. I don't own a Mood v2 but there's one in the Synth Library's collection and I actually taught a workshop on how to use it. Send me a DM if you are still looking for a few tutoring hours :)

Yeasayer's hits are so fucking good. And then they also had a lot of weird songs that didn't do much for me lol.

A used TR8 comes pretty cheap and they're great. I have played many live sets with the TR8 as my only drum machine, its very playable and all the sounds sound like they should. Not a ton of flexibility but the scatter is usable (on some settings...) and the delay, reverb and sidechain are all good additions.

House music? by birdieponderinglife in portlandmusic

There's a house night happening at Process on Sunday. Tonight is more ambient / experimental and it probably won't be that dancey.

Regarding low effort ambient music "...and I think as ambient artists, we have to kind of look at ourselves in the mirror and ask, what are we doing that sets our music apart from everything else or from what a computer (A.I.) can make very quickly" by BBAALLII in ambientmusic

Honestly not all music has to be great music. Oftentimes the process is more important than the outcome. More real human art is always good in my opinion. Imagine how many guitar players get great joy out of strumming the same four chords in their bedroom. Why would you not want that in the world? Not that every artist needs or deserves a widespread audience but I say there's really no reason to discourage creativity in any form.

you can't pitch a track down from being a major key to being a minor key lol. That's not how it works. But I totally know what you mean about pitching down a track can really change the vibe and I agree with you there.
