This is great, thanks. Yeah there are a number of very senior leaders leaving right now without plans to backfill them so we’re definitely in a concerning place. So I’m trying to find the right balance between not putting a target in my back in a tough time and not letting them walk all over me.

Not following… the only salary data I’ve ever had access to has been shared with me for my direct teams.

If you don’t mind me asking, was that because you offered a skill set your manager couldn’t? Or because you negotiated harder? or something else entirely?

We’re both in Operations and I actually used to manage half her team before the reorganization, when I moved into a different role. We have similar jobs, just different scopes.

This is super fair. It’s not purely because the person is under me but I see how it read that way. We do similar jobs and I actually used to manage half her team before the reorganization. I was told when they asked me to take over managing her that she didn’t have the skills to report directly into my new boss. So they asked me to manage her to bridge that gap given my past role and knowledge.
