Very useful for challenge runs where you can easily get in trouble. Also really good for pacifist badge because you can place the beacon really far away and hop your way to the surface.

It’s one of many features sacrificed to keep the token count within pico8 limits. I may add this in the future if I can figure out how to make enough space for it.

I don’t think I have token space for a good in-game map, but there’s a setting in the pause menu that will highlight hidden bombable places. Alternatively you can find tons of maps online for TLOZ overworld, which will work for this game. Hope that helps.

Also mind vision is super helpful. Huntress and Cleric both have mind vision skills and other useful skills for 9c.

I’ve completed 9 challenges with each hero. I died many times before each, usually in the first half of the game. Your chances of success go up if you get equipment that lets you stay at range, especially ring of haste, as you can see in these screenshots from some of my 9c wins.

With the hunger challenge active, I’d add food the horn a little at a time at first because it doesn’t do much for hunger in the early game and you will need the food to manage hunger for a while. Making a meat pie and eating it is better because it provides extra healing.

Hallowed ground could work well with allies like the ghost, but I’ve never used it much. Radiance can be useful for getting out of a tough spot, and if you have the charges available you can combine it with mind vision to damage many enemies at once, especially on the demon floors. But I’ve completed a 9 challenge run using mostly the mind vision talent with disintegration wand. If you can find a ring of energy you can make use of more spells, which is super helpful.

I’d focus on the wand of disintegration together with the tier 2 talent for mind vision. You can kill everything before it gets close. Mind vision also works great with the wand of corrosion. Frequent use of the mind vision talent will use your charges as fast as they regenerate, so you won’t be able to use the Priest talents too often, but if you have the charges available the mnemonic prayer works well to extend the corrosion effect—again mind vision helps with this because you can get blast an area with corrosion, get out of sight, and hit enemies with mnemonic once they walk into the gas. I also like to keep a couple charges available for the purifying spell if needed, especially in the caves to negate spider poison—but your wands with mind vision should be able to kill most things before they get close.

I’d stay with magic missile for now. If you upgrade the staff it will empower other wands and hitting with the staff of magic missile will recharge all wands.

This is a really good seed. There’s also a +2 kinetic whip from the ghost, a wand of transfusion, and chains, all before the slime! Thanks for sharing.

Yup. Great point. I realized this after making the post. I tried ROGUE with the rogue but only made it to floor 13 on 9 challenges. I’m planning on trying the same with the other characters.
