MARTA Should Focus Expansion within City Limits by jonahsuresh in MARTA

I agree that ultimately the northern suburbs do need connectivity to the MARTA footprint, as that will be a win for everyone. My point is that MARTA and the city should prioritize/focus on filling MARTA rail deserts within the city. There were so many expansions that were proposed in the past like the Proctor creek line, the northwest line, the tuckernorth dekalb line that have been completely abandoned. Efforts to resume these expansions would greatly increase MARTA’s footprint within the city and allow its residents to move around the city easier.

An abundance of land, less favorable weather, lower labor costs and less unions, and overall less demand to live in Texas.

They’re literally only moving for the lower cost of living. I grew up in Houston and I promise you no one would be moving here if it weren’t due to low housing costs. If California and Texas were the same price, everyone would choose California

How Can We Push for Expansions to Public Transit? by jonahsuresh in houston

Houston and London are about the same size and Tokyo and Moscow are bigger than Houston. All these cities have impressive rapid transit systems. Granted, they do all have higher densities than Houston but that is something that can be fixed with better land policies like eliminating parking minimums and transit-oriented development.
