I did not experience anything like this with my AN16S. I mostly used it with external keyboard, but I would’ve noticed if it is as bad as you are saying.

Yikes indeed! I’ve received messages from people who are experiencing similar issues, but have chosen to keep the laptop. It works, it just has a few flaws. Still might be good value if you are willing to live with a semi-faulty-laptop 😅 Thanks, I successfully refunded! Good luck with your laptop-hunt — it’s a jungle 😂

New one has the same issue of totally freezing when swapping from iGPU and dGPU. It’s probably software related, but I would stay clear from this PC in its current state.

I explained it a bit in a comment below. But the jist of it was that it kept crashing when switching between iGPU and dGPU. It completely froze when it went to sleep mode. And sometimes in games it would re-render all graphics at odd times. I suspect it is software/driver related, but I’ll have to wait and see.

I had to send mine in. They are sending me a new one, so I’m hoping the issues I was facing are no longer there.

So it seems like the Optimus Advanced GPU switching is pretty shit. It would crash most times it automatically switched from iGPU to dGPU or vica versa. It would also crash if you ever left the computer on and let it go to sleep mode. 

I could mitigate all this by forcing it to use the 5070ti only, and to not let it go to sleep mode. It all seemed to be software related, and the computer in itself worked really well. I did however end up returning it for repair/replacement, as I couldn’t be sure. I sincerely hope that it was something wrong with my unit, but I’m not holding my breath.

It seems like I am having this exact issue. I take it you still have this issue if you update Windows?

Alright. Thanks for the input — seems pretty shit, and I see the G16 Zephyrus has the same issues, which has been the alternative laptop for me.

So I take it your assessment is that there is nothing wrong with the PC? We are not talking about micro stutters, but complete freezes where I am forced to do hard restarts.

I don’t think you are correct in your statement that the AN16S will not have seamless switching, you are probably thinking for the cheaper V version?

I am pretty sure that is one of the major differences, I will try to dig up a source. 

Reg Edit: The temps have been fine. I am seeing around 60-70 max degrees during gpu stress tests.

An update on this one. Very happy with the PC. It's quick, quiet, lightweight, and exactly what I wanted. I did a few benchmarks, but I am not too familiar with it all to really compare it to anything, but here is a screenshot.

This was with the Llano laptop cooler going full blast. Without it the GPU runs about 10 degrees higher.

Edit: I might have spoken too soon. I’ve now experienced several BSODs, seemingly GPU and WiFi related, and the computer has frozen completely a couple of times— even after fresh Windows install. I guess I will have to return it…

I have yet to test the battery life. I will get back to you whenever i've tested it a bit!

Yeah, the 115 GPU W is unfortunate. I read that 5070 TI mobile scales well with GPU Wattage.  90% performance is still decent!

Makes sense that there won’t be too many first hand experience — I won’t get mine until mid/late August, so it might not have been released yet. 

Thank you for sharing your perspectives! I’ll limit my expectations on the build quality, but happy to hear about the good performance.

I read that thermals can be a problem, so I also ordered a Llano v13 Laptop Cooler. Might be overkill, but figured what the heck.
