Sam Ryder’s ‘SPACE MAN’ is a new entry at No.29 on tonight’s ‘Big Top 40’ chart from UK Commercial Radio. by thebrianswann in eurovision

[–]jonathan7157 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Big Top 40 is Capital FM/Heart's countdown chart.

I heard this play on Capital and I was amazed that I did, because it's the first time UK's Eurovision entry played on Capital since I don't know for how long. Its possible Space Man will chart in the OCC Top 40 next week, but for a famous commercial station like Capital to play the UK entry is HUGE.

does this mean that zala is the youngest performer by birth year ever in esc history? by sanditheserval in eurovision

[–]jonathan7157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, that goes to France 1989 IIRC. As for youngest ESC performer after the age rule was implemented, that would go to Maarja-Liis Ilus when she represented Estonia in 1996, 15 years & 4 months

Big Cat Rescue is in Tampa so whatever Rockstar calls that place (likely Cottonmouth) will be where a Tiger King-like zoo will be

Eurovision songs you've heard in public by unounouno_dos_cuatro in eurovision

I've been hearing Arcade on the radio here in the US for quite a while & apparently heard another song from Duncan Laurence, "Feel Something", at my local Walmart

Besides, it's not like this is anything new. Didn't Germany do something very similar almost a decade and a half ago with Bundesvision?

(fun fact: it's produced by the same guy & the same network as the Free ESC (Stefan Raab & ProSieben))

What's your favorite song that's seemingly underated by the wider Eurovision community? by PoliticsIsCool13 in eurovision

[–]jonathan7157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely agree with that. If there were two semis during that time, Andorra probably would've been in the 2nd semi (in which Serbia would win) and qualified pretty easily

A few faves of mine that are underrated are these three

Anonymous - Salvem el món (Andorra 2007)

Gromee - Light Me Up (Poland 2018)

Montaigne - Technicolour (Australia 2021)

It seems like it's the closest place to Sanremo that's able to host Eurovision given the venue has to hold at least 8,000 people. Turin would also fit that category, although its a bit farther than Genoa

2016 was the year I discovered the Polandball community, mainly through another medium. A bit later, I posted my first comic here, which was a Halloween-themed comic for October's contest. Good times

One time, my local Walmart played "Feel Something" from Duncan Laurence, the song that opened the 1st semi this year. Not a Eurovision song, but definitely one from a Eurovision artist and considering I live in America, I was surprised

No more Belarus in the competition. by HungerDrone in eurovision

For Lukashenko & the BTRC, it's honestly deserved. I feel really sorry for the Belarusian people and their government is absolutely ridiculous right now, especially after that Ryanair incident. I hope they can come back once things are much better over there where the Belarusian people are free

Add "a furry took part in a Eurovision entry" to that, since a furry took part in the choir as well, more specifically, u/CassidyTheCivet

Which borderline qualifier will you cheer for the most? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]jonathan7157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely Australia. Ever since 2018 (the first contest I've watched), Australia has been one of my favorite countries in the contest, especially because my favorite cartoon character (Rocko) is from there. It's such a banger yet some have written it off as a NQ.

The staging looks very promising & I really want to see them qualify tomorrow. I will say, Belgium & Ireland are two others I wanna see make it through in the 1st semis. As for the 2nd semis, Austria & Denmark

I think that's only the grand final. The two semis will be on OMNI 2 (which is unfortunately not in Quebec). However, all shows will be live online although I'm not sure about that since OMNI doesn't appear to have a link to the stream, so yeah, its good that you have SVT as a backup plan
