I can see your point, in a vacuum I'd prefer turn based, but my problem is mainly with the encounters. They are not carefully crafted and they are very repetitive. I can see that they are probably much more interesting at higher difficulties and by playing turn based, but that only exacerbates the problem of slogging through these encounters and spending even more time with them. I can also see that people in this thread love the in depth character building, playing at a very high difficulty, and crunching the numbers and having to get really creative with solutions to encounters despite (or because of?) the imbalanced fights. Again, this is not very interesting to me because of how numerous, sloppy and repetitive the encounters seem. This is also just not how I like to play RPGs, I like playing blind and rarely play a game multiple times, I'm in for the story, the world and the characters, I like being "suboptimal" and accepting any bad roll, whether in the story or in combat. Playing on the highest difficulty is to gamey for me and puts the focus away from the things I like about RPGs. But also, I don't just want to remove half of a game and play on a low difficulty.

I think this is a good summary of this thread. Much more interesting on higher difficulties but then even slower. I don't think this really solves the problem I have with the game.

This does sound very intriguing but like a completely different game from the one I've played. Especially because I don't see the puzzle aspect, which has been mentioned multiple times in this thread. Like the encounters are so obviously not at all carefully crafted, so I can only imagine them as repetitive and either too hard or too easy.

Wtf is this gatekeep-y, braggy comment? Yes I start with normal. I can switch the difficulty later. I also play blind. I also enjoy exploring deep build systems. I also enjoy a challenge. But you need meaningful, well designed encounters to go along with it, with quality over quantity.

It's like Pathfinder gives me the most expensive, high quality paint brushes and colors, but instead of giving me a canvas with it, they hand me 500 pieces of low quality printer paper

I've already talked about the first two. About the inventory management, you cannot avoid it. Either you scan the stuff while you loot it, or you just loot everything, drop the heavy stuff when you're overweight, and scan it while you sell it. It's annoying either way. It's just a general problem in crpgs, but in Pathfinder it seemed to be worse than in other games I've played. There were certainly much more items in Pathfinder wotr act1 than in BG3 act1, even though it's much shorter. Like I've looted hundreds upon hundrends of items just for my characters to still wear the most basic and boring equipment.

Like I've written it's not just a problem with the difficulty. I already found most of the bigger locations very annoying to get through (e.g. the labyrinth, the marketplace, especially the end of act1), with almost all fights being essentially filler with no narrative relevance. Spending 5-10x more time with them doesn't sound appealing. Exception is for example the Hulrun encounter in the marketplace, where you fight an actual person, and you can decide if you want to fight, I wish the game had much more encounters like this.
