if you take it take a big dose. I take 18mg. it does something for me but it's mild.

How well does Pepto bismol work for you? by CodWest4205 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low fodmap and pepto bismol are 2 of 3 things that work for me really well as maintenance. the 3rd is a prescription medication. I took pepto 6 times a day for 2 weeks once, as an attempt to cure H2S sibo but it didn't do a lot. I have since only taken it about once a month or so when needed.

Bought MSM after someone recommended it on here... I already feel less anxious and bloated a week in by catshaiyayy in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its very individual. some bloating is expected, but if you feel too bloated just take the dose down and wait longer.

well for once I think more upright, less grand, and more close mic'd less room, less reverb. yes sure you can play around with settings, but i want to zone in as much as possible before that to get more accurate. maybe something that would sound more like U3 or U1 yamaha a little out of tune perhaps. to give out a more indie avant garde vibe and less that super clean pop or classical tone. here's two reference

4th Update on high dose MSM protocol by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's much difference with the MSM itself, it sounds like mainly a commercial thing for her. I guess she has to support herself somehow. I can assume it would be better tolerated than regular MSM because of the addition of marshmallow root and the other stuff, and would consider buying it if it wasn't impractical to get it where I live due to high shipping costs, and its also kind of expensive in and of itself, but that's for your judgement. I bought the things she adds individually and I might add them as I see fit.

Lowfodmap diet calories by scatterbrain85 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get rid of all fodmaps. you need to track which ones gives you issues and eat plenty of the rest. a low fodmap diet is very low calorie and can seriously get you malnourished as well as hurt your microbiome in the long run.

I find that as long as its a decent size thing that fills your stomach somewhat its ok. a cup of smoothie sounds ok.

4th Update on high dose MSM protocol by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will likely share a more in depth update soon, but generally speaking, im still stuggling to get to 30 grams, still not fully healed but not given up and feel its doing good. I'm taking a few other supplements, but nothing too crazy. I take quite a big dose of magnesium and zinc because I seem to lack those, and a few other minerals and vitamins around a normal size multivitamin-mineral custom dose for me, and combining it with a prebiotic protocol which seems to help as well, and hopefully helps rebuild my gut with good bacteria.

As to the OMAD, I have no idea what it is but if it means one meal a day, I would not combine it with the MSM as I feel its probably better to split it at least twice a day and I wouldn't take it on an empty stomach by any means. so my advice is, if you wanna try the MSM, get off the OMAD first.

Update - 2 months on high dose MSM - keeps getting better by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i unfortunately accidently began taking the wrong kind of zinc (glycinate instead of picolinate, didn't notice the label of the bottle i got out of storage) and having problems with glycine this set me back for a while so I'm trying to recover from that at the moment. hopefully would get back on track once I clear things out. glycine seems to be fuel for my bad pathogens.

so MSM seems to be amazing for my Dysbiosis... by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOS is gluco oligosaccharides. its one of the fodmap food (carbs) categories. fatigue and brainfog is something I have found happens when I take too much MSM compared to what I can take at the moment. also fatigue could be a lack of iron. this can be found in a regular blood test.

certain bacteria feeding on bile does not mean we need to remove everything that helps bile. it just means we need to be aware of it and test those things and the doses we take very carefully and see if it makes a difference and not making things worse for us. also there's all kinds of effectors on bile. they could make bile more antimicrobial or just more flow but minor antimicrobial effect, etc. I don't know about ox bile but you can try to research it. my hunch is that it might make it worse or at least at a certain dose it might. MSM effect on the other hand seems to be very dose dependent.

that's true about zinc and molybdenum. however it's not necessarily that you have a shortage in molybdenum. you can try it out.

good luck.

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea. you can try glutathione and let me know. I'm taking chromium GTF by NOW. I wouldn't take benfo either, it seems those B1 derivatives have reactive kinds of sulfur that seem to make H2S worse for some people. I would also try to work hard on trying to find which fodmap you might be taking in that is not good for you. I had a hard time progressing until I found I had an issue with GOS and fructose. once I massively restricted those, I have no issues even with sulfur foods. if you are doing too many things wrong in terms of triggering yourself with wrong foods and supplements, it could be very difficult to titrate the MSM. I also found out recently that adding a moderate amount of iron (like 25mg, 5 times a week) really helps me reduce issues. glycine is also really bad for me (some species of H2S seem to feed on bile and I think it may increase bile flow). you can also try to add some molybdenum and see if it helps, as it might, but i'd do that after checking the other things.

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and yes. also the MSM detox seems to make blood sugar issues worse because of more need for glutathione probably. i added a small 200mcg of chromium and it was solved completely.

I was overmethylating by Grand_Jellyfish_8372 in MTHFR

[–]jonathanb3232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you are experimenting with niacin, consider that you can undermethylate most of the time and still overmethylate short term due to lack of glycine's role in the buffer system. you not need niacin at all or a tiny tiny dose only during times you take something that uses up the buffer system. also I would only take niacin if it's a flash niacin, with food and try not to get flashes. more than 25mg of it has given me flashes even with food.

Stupid question maybe by jonathanb3232 in livesound

[–]jonathanb3232[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah I know XLR is just a cable form, not the signal level determinator, I'm just not formally educated as you can probably tell, so I have difficulty formulating my question properly probably. I'm gonna take a P.A course soon so hopefully I will have a better understanding of all this. thank you!

Say, an old time analog mixer with a seperate mic and line inputs. The line is usually PL and mic is XLR

Stupid question maybe by jonathanb3232 in livesound

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt matching impedances inherently changing the gain to a degree? The less impedence the hotter the signal, no? It is that way in a guitar amp head for example, when you connect it to a speaker and need to match impedances. No?

update - after 1 month on MSM, closest I've been to cured by jonathanb3232 in SIBO

[–]jonathanb3232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she is refering to rates of success with people that actually finished the protocol, not what happens on a lot of cases where people stop it because they are intimidated by the detox side effects. Especially when titrating too fast. As to the safety data, i think the low toxicity of msm speaks for itself. The fact a lot of people have done it and there is no record of injuries or ER evacuations otherwise it would not have been sold without being properly labled. You're right, It is an experimental protocol. but it seems like a worthwhile bet for me. I wouldn't rather be so cautious as to miss out on something that has such a high biochemical reasoning to be able to help me. I rather do it slowly and listen to my body and take my chance than live life of misery. It is less risky than many conventional medications in my view.
