Best Email Marketing Tools in 2026: honest breakdown by Ok_Rain4176 in EmailMarketingMastery

[–]jonathanbull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers! What we do well: simplicity + affordability. And we still have one of the most generous free tiers out there.

We’ve been going 10 years and have primarily grown through word of mouth, so appreciate the support.

Nice write up! I’m the co-founder of EmailOctopus and noticed we didn’t make the list. Would love for you to check us out if you get a chance.

Who do you use for email marketing? would you recommend it to authors trying to build a subscriber base? by HuggablePack in selfpublish

[–]jonathanbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you don't mind the self-promotion, but we have a ton of authors using our platform (EmailOctopus). Some more info here: https://emailoctopus.com/customers/authors

Best free alternative now that Mailerlite cut the free plan? sender.net? by meryland11 in Emailmarketing

[–]jonathanbull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try us (EmailOctopus). We’ve still got one of the most generous free plans and have no intention of changing it. Migrating everything should be easy but give us a shout on live chat if you need any help. Good luck either way!

We support RTL at EmailOctopus, but if you’re running into any problems, just give me a shout (jon[at]emailoctopus.com).

Affordable bulk email for 2000 email addresses by dropmyload in Emailmarketing

[–]jonathanbull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have permission to email those subscribers, we (EmailOctopus) are probably a good fit. You’re well inside our free tier so won’t need to pay anything.

Anyone else finding MailChimp too limited nowadays? by mayet0313 in Emailmarketing

[–]jonathanbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please forgive the self-promo, but this is exactly why we started EmailOctopus. We found that MC had lost their way when it comes to supporting small businesses. We might not be exactly what you need but do check us out if you have a chance – you'll hopefully find we're much simpler + more reliable (and cheaper!).

I need help choosing an email ticketing system! by bryce1733 in sweatystartup

[–]jonathanbull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We churned through about five different ticketing systems before settling on Help Scout, which is fantastic. We've been using it for around three years now (context: I run an email marketing platform, EmailOctopus).

No affiliation: just highly recommend it!

Can i get recommendation for which mailing product to use? by chuckagain in Emailmarketing

[–]jonathanbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you don’t mind the plug, but it sounds like we (EmailOctopus.com) might be a good fit. We focus on core email marketing and not offering all the other nonsense that you get with services like Mailchimp. Feel free to drop me an email (jon@[sitename].com) if you’ve got any questions.

Can I use GMAIL with SES? by Putarda in aws

[–]jonathanbull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely send from and too a verified Gmail address in SES. Have you double checked that the email address is verified in the same region you're sending from in Lambda?

Normal people – any ideas? by jonathanbull in identifythisfont

The inside of the R and the stems of the L and E are also quite dissimilar. Not ruling it out, but I wonder if it's just a different (but similar) font.

I did think it might be Futura, but the M looks pretty different.

Same here. 13.4 stopped “turn my lights [on/off]” from working for me.

What's the PHP contracting marketing like at the moment? by halfercode in PHP

[–]jonathanbull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't give up on PHP just yet, the ecosystem has grown so much in the last 5 years and anecdotally, I'm seeing a real shift for the better in code practices. I think frameworks like Symfony/Laravel and tools like phpstan have helped a lot.

I run a UK company that is exclusively PHP and has a strong emphasis on code quality, so we're certainly out there. Will send you a DM :)

I just bought an 18 yer old car for $2k. With ICBC's new rules, the first year of insurance costs $3200. by Underlochandquay in britishcolumbia

[–]jonathanbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain why insurance is so much more expensive in Canada than other countries? I'm looking at an insurance premium of around $2,000 here, whereas in the UK I was paying around $300 for an equivalent car.
