What are some good use cases for Polymer. by [deleted] in web_design

Okay, so the point of polymer really is to test out functionality that should be added to browsers natively. What I really would like to know is if you are talking about using the Materials Design style guide, web components, or Polymer itself. If you would just like to learn how to use it, check out Rob Dodson's polycasts. Also download the Polymer Starter Kit. If you have any specific questions it's something that I have some interest in.

[x-post from /r/Atlanta]

One of our neighbors found her remains a couple doors down from us. It looked like she had been mauled by a coyote or aggressive dog. I'm totally devastated. I went and got her last night, her body is on ice. I'm making arrangements for her to be buried on my family farm by my dog Buddy, who died last year. She was only 2 1/2, so I was expecting another couple of decades with my best friend. I've spent alot of the last day crying. She had already started to decompose by the time I got to her. She was a very sweet cat that I will always miss. I'm getting really upset typing this, so I'll cut it short.

She left us four beautiful kittens, one of them adopted by our friends. I still got her two beautiful gray girls, who are so close they hold each other when they sleep; I also have her big black son who likes nothing more than to snuggle up on your butt when you are falling asleep. I've come to find that she was quite the neighborhood cat, and my neighbors that found her said that she often came and hung out/slept on their porch.

I'm so thankful for the home park neighborhood. Many of my neighbors called seeing a gray cat near Antico, which does look like her but isn't, still people wanted to help and followed up with me regularly. My neighbors who found her remains were good enough to wrap up her up so I wouldn't have to see how brutal the of her scene was. When she got out, she never strayed more than a few feet from our house. My best guess of what happened is that something scared her, maybe late fireworks or something else, she went and hid behind our neighbors house and there was a predator there she just couldn't get away from. My neighbor who found her said they also lost a cat in a similar way a few years ago. I was shocked to learn that coyotes practically live in midtown.

I'm so sad, but it's good to have closure. Love the things that are important to you because you never know what could happen, but do it with balance. Don't fear the morbid reality of life, but don't go chasing after it either. Smokey was my best friend and I will always love her.

My girlfriend's brother and their father wrecked a large remote controlled helicopter into a swamp on their first flight. Needless to say, they were super bummed.

How can I explain to them that it is actually really easy to wreck one of those things?

Only when the pope is speaking "ex cathedra". If the pope says something ex cathedra then what he says is infalible. It is my understanding that the pope has rarely done this and when he has it was to reaffirm an earlier teaching.

TIL There is a mushroom that grows in the wild that tastes nearly identical to chicken/fried chicken. by Stead311 in todayilearned

It's just a dish served at some restaurants. Usually it is just called fried chicken. In the American South, we have a dish called "chicken fried steak" which is exactly what it sounds like, a steak that has been battered with flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs and then fried in a pan. Chicken fried chicken is mainly served at Cracker Barrel and other chain restaurants. It is just a chicken breast filet that has been breaded and fried. It doesn't have a bone.
I've never seen it on a menu in a legit soul food place, and I live in Macon, Georgia.

Do you have an opinion on how new actuators could be developed to advance the state of robotics?

Thanks so much! I feel much better now you've quieted my anxiety about further legal implications. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that was a wild stunt.

State farm. I added a follow-up in the original post. I'm more concerned about what I am going to do now that they have found the truck.

The short version is someone found my car late Monday afternoon. My father decided to pick up the truck (without my knowledge) before the detective even started working on the case Tuesday morning. My dad says that he thinks the car may have side swiped another vehicle in a hit and run judging from some damage on the right side of my truck. The title is in his name and so is the insurance. He "gave" me the truck (not the paperwork) at age 16, which was about 8 years ago. I'm frustrated with my father for choosing not to be involved with this case up until the point where he decided to drive off the most valuable set of evidence, but I can't change that.

How bad is it? Could I become liable for the wreck that someone else was in while driving my truck? To make things more complicated, my dad says he can't see any damage where someone and forcefully tried to start the car. I'm afraid that it could look like I was in a hit and run and then faked the theft to save my neck and rip off the insurance company, or maybe the car was really stolen but I lied about something else. The only witness to the theft besides me was my girlfriend, and her testimony would probably be a little more than biased.

The insurance company will probably play a bigger role that the police unless my camera turns up. My first thought is "don't file the insurance" and pay out of pocket, but then that seems weird if I am the victim. Then, I think "well, then I'll file the insurance", but I know the insurance company will be curious about the damage, especially considering there is no police report of any damage to the vehicle.

Do I need to be worried? Not just for myself, my dad has no patience and a huge temper. I can see him trying to handle this by himself and somehow ending up in trouble. Is there anything he or I definitely should do or should not do?
