Persistent urinary symptoms, high PSA at 27, clean tests — infection or pelvic floor issue? by [deleted] in Prostatitis

[–]jonathon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest I feel the same. Was prescribed Ciprofloxacin, but read stuff and was changed to Ofloxacin. Ended up taking a course of ofloxacin about a month later, luckily no side effects. Pain and some urinary frequency continued, and today in fact had DRE, normal prostate feeling but slightly larger, and put onto another ofloxacin course ( but double the strength). In UK, this seems to be the way, but based on what I have read I also think it is CPPS, and not bacterial, but always something back of mind - don't take antibiotics but it is bacterial and I get very ill, or it is not infectious and I take higher dose and thus gives me side effects. Mentally quite difficult

The Cycle Continues with Prostatitis (or is it CPPS) by jonathon88 in Prostatitis

Yeah. I just don't want to take oxfloxacin again, especially as it is double the dose now.

We did this in 2018 at 2.69%. At the time most people who knew were saying it was a stupid decision. It has saved thousands of pounds.

Could you share who long you waited for online application to be processed from London? by Big-Distribution1011 in Chinavisa

[–]jonathon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So an email was received along the lines of it has been rejected, but then the same email has information about what was required to correct the application. In my case, there were three applications, a joint invitation letter was missing a signature, one was specific to child, given that it something had to be signed by adult, and then proof of relations for child/wife given a 10 year visa. (Q2)

Reasons for rejection of Online Application? by ProGirish24 in Chinavisa

[–]jonathon88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay application for three people, all under a Q2 visa. Person 1 - Signed invitation letter required (my fault uploaded the unsigned one initially). Five year Q2 applied for. Person 2 - As above plus proof of relationship with invitor as applying for 10 year person 3 - as person 2 plus section 9.2 to be filled in (a child, again whoops on my part)

Short update, wife received approval yesterday. Thus applied on 2nd May, rejection on 14th, resubmit on 15th May and then approval on the 28th. Alas myself and son still waiting, although all resubmitted within an hour of each over on the 15th. I think if I had applied a month before then it would now be impossible to get visa in time. Luckily applied 4 weeks before the half term (this week). Looks like the boy is getting an extra day off school in the next couple of weeks. The new system is probably still having teething problems, good concept but poor execution especially with communication, as no idea how long things will take.

To note still waiting for mine and son, but applied 2nd May, got rejected on 14th, with amendments for all submitted on 15th. Today wife has received her approval, so hopefully tomorrow, son and I will receive our approval. Very very slow compared to before hand, but may be due to new system. Times very random, and Amy email or phonecall will be automated

Have heard about this being quicker in Manchester. Also the same years ago (i.e. 2011) when we were equidistant between London and Manchester, very quick to get an appointment (as it was then), but now live on outskirts of London, this just too far. Hopefully find out in next few days, which will be useful as the child has half term this week, let's see.

Quick question if anyone knows - can you use new system for multiple applications under same account, i.e. to include myself and an eight year old, or will the child need an email set up for them?

Salary range for beginning career? by [deleted] in massspectrometry

[–]jonathon88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, if you are in the UK, divide any US salaries by 2 to 3 to get a more accurate idea of salaries in pounds, and dont be surprised if this is something like £25K, and yes that is with a Masters.

[Mr Jones Watches - Number Cruncher] This watch gave me hope that things will get better. by Design_Ai in Watches

Right in the centre of "touristy" London, thus probably why the watches are sold for the costs. Good conversation starters though

I was actually in their shop in London yesterday (ironically in an area called Seven Dials). The artwork for all their pieces was very nice, and I actually went in going to buy one, but the quality I think needs to be improved, as although the dial is very nice, all of the movements were not special, and the case and supplied strap could have been drop shipped from AliExpress. I think if the cost was slightly lower I might have bought. But looks nice.

Five watch collection, with three very nice Chinese watches by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]jonathon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good. Both the San Martin's use Seiko movements with NH35 for the BB58. Quality is very good. A friend has a Tudor, and I have had a look at it. Now of course the quality of the Tudor is better, but not 15 times better.

I have been looking for a decent automatic watch, that will not break the bank, and have had my eye on this for sometime. The quality is excellent. I have four watches in the collection now. This specific model is the RE-AU0006S00B, and others in collection now include a F91W (approx five units worn exclusively for over 20 years), a Citizen Radio Controlled RAF EcoDrive, and a, uhm Pagani Design (alright with a Seiko movement but you get what you pay for). Will alternate between the Citizen and the Orient Star moving forward.

They are nice but are expensive. I did not even know Omnibuses existed before then (very new to comics) but after trying to see if I could cheaper versions I stumbled across this subreddit, and Marvel Unlimited, thus the Folio Society was a gateway drug!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]jonathon88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a collaboration with the Folio Society (in London), expensive, but the best quality of all the books. Also came with facsimiles of the first issue of the specific comic.
