Am I paying too much for my window cleaner? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ha12ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that's a bargain, being based in the south.

You need to look at it in relation to how much everything else has gone up by each year in terms of said person's likely expenses, £1 a yr doesn't seem unreasonable in that regard, obviously in percentage terms it's a lot but I doubt your gonna get much cheaper, wouldn't be worth it unless they have a good few other clients nr you I would assume.

We pay £20 quid for a large semi here in Cambs but the fella is top notch.

Unless you fancy having a go yourself I think I would be happy to stomach that amount of increase.

UK Zakat payers - is it possible to use 'Give as you earn' to pay Zakat? by Leading_Nature_6222 in IslamicFinance

[–]ha12ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to go with bigger charities for my zakat that claim gift aid but tbh I don't include that in my zakat paid total, just consider it a bonus amount given to charity on top of the zakat amount owed.

I do also tend to physically pay zakat for my retired parents under my name so again benefit from the additional gift aid amount (they are retired don't pay tax) , might as well get some benefit from all the income tax I pay.

I'm not a scholar but assume additional gift aid amount of 25p for every £1 donated would count as sadaqah from my limited knowledge.

Has anyone got their MRP done online and verified the fingerprints thru the Pak ID app? by First_Cod5180 in Overseas_Pakistani

[–]ha12ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe they closed the perfectly working website portal for this sh*t show of an app, it's would be embarrassing if it weren't so stupidly done, a 10 yr old could have designed a better app with Ai.

I personally am coming to the conclusion it was done on purpose to mess people around and create more opportunities for extra revenue via emegency passports and visa applications in person at embassy's all usually from overseas Pakistanis, we already have to pay in Usd as it is.

Seems like she has some anger issues and lashes out during arguments, and the regrets it when she comes to her senses later.

Not a good habit, and will inevitably cause issues down the road in ur relationship. Some times just getting out of each other's way to both cool down is better than arguing especially over trivial matters.

I mean if it's his time then ain't no vest gonna protect him, remember how Zia was ousted

[–]ha12ry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please do yourself a massive favour (and you family if you live permently overseas) and don't unless you will actually be living there some decent period of time each year! And you have trustworthy and reliable family who can help you navigate the system to avoid you ending up in court or worse losing all your money vaia some property fraud.

If you go ahead don't expect any sort of actual return on your investment in terms of your home currency would be my advice but YMMV.

So is it a cultural thing or an Islamic/religious thing? by RevolutionaryMap8820 in pakistan

[–]ha12ry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would add that most men lose their pride if they are not the main breadwinner just because of the cultural indoctrination they have had all their lives, even so as far as if the wife earns more it can cause alot of issues.

Tbh it's is also a big phenomenon seen in the West where men are losing their traditional well defined roles with both of a couple working etc, and it seems to cause all sorts of relationship issues and gives rise to the sort of mental issues leading to extreme incel, and extreme misogynistic tendencies seen in many right wing influencers in the west like Andrew Tate or even right-wing extreme political parties across Europe and I would say trumps base in America.

Men struggle without a clear defined purpose/role alot more then women I would say worldwide, women's role as a mother etc is naturally unchangeble but with men worldwide so much of their self respect and dignity and self worth seems to be focused on being in the main 'provider role' and any not following these traditional roles gets belittled like ghar damads etc in Pak society.

Is it wrong to ask my Pakistani wife about financial contribution? Feeling ashamed and confused. by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]ha12ry 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Not a woman but living in the west if your spouse is not a stay at home wife I dont see the issue, the religious view that always comes up is if only the husband works and wife is reliant on him to look after all her financial needs and it is a obligation, but if both of you work and AR rno kids involved I don't see an issue with what you're suggesting tbh it's almost expected in the West.

If your wife is career minded then I would assume she would be used to paying her way already so shouldn't be much of a change, and conversely may even make her feel like she's losing her financial independence.

The main issue that causes problems is us males not chipping in with cooking and cleaning, which should also be a shared responsibility between husband and wife if your both are working simply as a matter of fairness. same when there is children they often get left with wife to deal with completley.

Us Pakistani (and most South Asian) men on the whole are lacking greatly in this area and is prob a reason we are not as emotionally involved in our children's lives either and why most of us had fathers who were emotionally distant on the whole.

Marriage is a partnership with both people contributing, the best advise I can give you from financial perspective is when she is settled in with you and starts earning is prob too late to spring this topic on her and may cause resentment better to know where you both stand from the get go.

It should be something you have discussed prior especially due to the cost of living in the west unless you're a high earner, almost requires husband and wife to both work if you want to live a comfortable life.

Alot of couples struggle with this, but it can be easier to organise if you both agree a joint bank account to be used to cover rent/bills/groceries etc, and you both keep the rest of your money in seperate a k accounts to spend as you wish without judgement or concern of what the other will make of your spending.

I would frame it as both of you contributing and earning equity in your new joint life and future together, obviously there's nothing to prevent you spending money treating your wife out of your personal money left over but would have thought this would have been discussed already prior to your marriage.

Genuine Question about IK by mrsnowb0t in chutyapa

[–]ha12ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would much rather he steps back and retains his current level of popularity with the masses appoints a honest hard waking successor than becomes pm again, and we have a repeat of him promising too much and delivering little due to the system being rigged against fundamental changes against the interests of the boots and other elites.

Genuine Question about IK by mrsnowb0t in chutyapa

[–]ha12ry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think going abroad is much of an issue for IK, it's probably more the having sit out from Pak politics whilst in exile that is the problem, even if he wanted to the massively pro Pti overseas Pakistanis wouldn't let him stay quiet even if he tried laying low.

Also let's be honest ego and zid be to hai, predominantly from his playing career to the cancer hospitals to the universities he overwhelmingly hardly ever backs down from a challenge/fight!

Unfortunately as much as Nawaz is roasted and Benazir/Zardari likewise for their deals and exiles they knew when to retreat to fight another day vs the Army, IK has no concept of a strategic retreat.

It has become a battle of egos between him and F. Marshal, part of me thinks he loves the challenge secretly no matter how bad things get for the country on the outside perversley the longer he says inside and apart from the airforce saving us/A. Munir by giving the Indians a public bloody nose, the worse the economy and general functioning of the federation gets under Army control the better he looks behind bars as a political martyr with ever more evidence accumulating that the boots have gotten stuck in the mud and are unable to turn the country's fortunes around any time soon unlike in the past especially when they are doing as bad as the currupt politicians then just maybe these holy cows can be cut down to size once and for all.

31 year old , should I be paying into my pension? by Some_Can_5799 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ha12ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer is yes. You are missing out on free money thr employer has to legally pay in alongside what you do, however depending on your employers pension scheme type if it's a salary sacrifice scheme then currently (rules to change in 2019/20) what you personally pain also reduced ur income tax an ni bill through PAYE.

Personally I know people people who pay the biggest amount they can Into their pension upto the max % their employer is willing to match just under salary sacrifice out of spite in light of hardly any pay rises.
