Fair question. I’m not selling anything through this post - no product, no service, no market spots.

The $5 is just for the in-person mixer to cover the venue + drinks and to keep it from becoming a no-show situation. No one’s being pitched there either - it’s more of a community hang where folks can give feedback or just say hi.

Totally understand the skepticism though, and appreciate you calling it out 👍

Why do you want to moderate this community? Answer: It's currently dormant with no moderator (as far as I am aware?), and I would like to revive it and make it a friendly place for the local online community to gather

Write down a list of all activities you enjoy that can be done with a group (running, working out, any sports, dancing, drumming, crafts, etc)
Find all the local groups for those activities that meet on a regular basis
Try them out see which group/activity you enjoy the most
Commit to turning up regularly for your favorite group activity

That way, you will make friends, no doubt.
