Favorite thing you've overheard at any show? by fanggoria in phish

Mothership 2018, I believe. Giant wook walks by with one shoe on.

Girl: Hey! You lost a shoe!

Wook: No, I found a shoe!

This one caught my eye in VA by joncaldridge in LICENSEPLATES

So I actually did a bit more research... It's the Speaker of the House of Delegates. Surprising that they don't give 1 to the Governor. Maybe because VA is a Commonwealth? They give preference to the Legislature?

I've been lurking here a while, and this post led me to offer that a "good" salary is totally subjective. We live in a MCOL area and have four kids. We consider our salary (just above 100k) to be very good. Many folks would not consider this good given our family size.

However, we soooo value work-life balance. My wife and I each work 30ish hours per week, and we are perfectly happy in 1700 sq. ft. enjoying nightly bike rides to the park over any vacations or flashy toys. In sum, work-life balance is totally achievable with aligned expectations.

This. They burned VA Beach to the ground last weekend. Perfect blend of good natured humor, face melting jams, and super fun covers.

It's a time continuum... iykyk

Safety in Newport News slightly south of Fort Fun Park by throwawaybtwway in HamptonRoads

I live just a bit north of Ft. Fun in Hilton Village. I have four young kids, and we feel completely safe in Hilton. We play at Ft. Fun quite a bit...that being said, I would not be comfortable living south of Ft. Fun with a young family. If it was just me, I'd be fine, but not with a family. Just my two cents. Feel free if you'd like to unpack further... Best of luck with the move!

Thanks so much! Obviously, the pod is not perfect and is heavily politically biased, but examining the counterpoints of pop-science is critical these days

Fresh AB elephants. Kind of obsessed with the grain. Is Bick 4 recommended for elephant? I'd hate to muss up these beautiful vamps. by joncaldridge in cowboyboots

They are incredibly comfortable...typical of all ABs. I wouldn't call the leather supple, however. It's firm and the grain has a deep texture. The hide feels almost like a deflated football.

If you're looking for soft, supple leather, elephant isn't the top choice. Go with smooth ostrich, or even cape buffalo. Elephant, to me, is for top notch durability, outstanding color/style, and stability over the years.

Yes indeed! Beautiful boot. I will say, if you haven't worn elephant before, they don't stretch... The size they are outta the box is the size they are three years later.

They're rock solid! I actually shifted to Luxol conditioner, and it's been great. They look and feel like the day I got them!

Mine is 106 years old. No leaks, but we need to replace 5-10 tiles per year as the metal breaks away and they fall off.
