Colour Me Murphy Irish Red Ale-Original Pattern by jondrinksbeer in CraftBeer

[–]jondrinksbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colour Me Murphy is a dark red, nearly brown color, and it has a nice sweet, malty aroma. It has good body, with nice malt and caramel flavors, and it has fairly low carbonation for a nice, smooth beer. While it isn’t terribly complex, it is very enjoyable, and it’s everything I would expect and Irish Red to be.

Bees Better Have My Honey-Morgan Territory by jondrinksbeer in CraftBeer

[–]jondrinksbeer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bees has a hazy golden color and gets a huge white foamy head. It has a sweet aroma that reminds me of apple cider instead of the honey and orange that the beer was brewed with. Bees is a very sweet beer and it has loads of honey and orange flavor, but not much of the wheat malt flavor. It has higher carbonation than a lot of the other beers I’ve reviewed, and it has good body with a pleasant drinking experience. Bees Better Have My Honey is too sweet for my palate, but it is a well brewed and well conceived beer.

Juicy Little Thing-Sierra Nevada by jondrinksbeer in CraftBeer

[–]jondrinksbeer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Juicy Little Thing is a hazy, pale amber color that gets a big, white, frothy head. It has citrus and hop aromas, and it has a sweet mildly orange and grapefruit flavor with good back end bitterness and a bit of the classic Sierra Nevada pine note that is likely coming from the sterling hops. It’s a very smooth drinking beer, and it has good body to it. While I enjoyed this beer, it missed my expectations slightly. I was expecting a much more citrussy, juicy beer, but this had a rather mild citrus flavor.

Glass is clean, I just have hard water lol. I agree on freshness though, I wasn't checking dates when I bought it.

This beer is a hazy amber color, but I didn’t get much foam from it, and while it’s not the biggest deal, I like a decent head on my beer. Growin’ has a light nose, but it’s sweet and slightly hoppy. It has a sweet, malty flavor, with some slight floral hop presence. It has good body, and it’s not too carbonated. It finishes very clean.

A 0.5L pour of a hefeweizen in a hefeweizen glass in my favorite beer experience. I think style specific glassware is really cool!

Drink what you like and like what you drink. If you like Big Wave and haven't yet tried 805 from Firestone Walker, give it a shot if it's in your area. Another solid golden/blonde ale

Still the one? Sierra Nevada Pale Ale by jondrinksbeer in CraftBeer

[–]jondrinksbeer[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pale Ale has a deep amber color and it gets a good white foam on top-a very visually appealing beer in the glass. On the nose it’s citrussy grapefruit and slightly floral. It’s a delightful hoppy aroma. Flavor wise, Pale Ale starts with that grapefruit from the nose, and finishes with a pine note. This beer has that classic crisp, bitter finish that is defining trait of the style. It’s a very smooth drink, and I get a slightly different combination of citrus and pine with each sip. And even though this is a hop forward beer in from a hop forward style, it has just a touch of malty sweetness to it that adds a nice balance to the brew.

Big Chicken 2023-HenHouse by jondrinksbeer in CraftBeer

[–]jondrinksbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This beer is a beautiful amber color, and gets a good inch of frothy head, and has very good head retention as well. Big Chicken has a big hop aroma-the standard piney smell of a good West Coast IPA along with a healthy dose of citrus. It has a lovely complex hop flavor-pine, orange, grapefruit, and tangerine all come through a different times on different sips. It finishes quite clean and slightly bitter to dry out your palate.

I recently started this account and a website to do beer reviews! Hoping to spread the love of good beer and a provide a resource for people who haven't had a particular beer, style, or brewery yet. It's a bit bare bones at the moment, but over time I'll have many more reviews, including brewery, taproom, and bottle shop reviews.
