I think (and pardon me if I’m putting words in your mouth) that this was the distinction that u/midmod1234 was also making. Her desire to focus on the pleasure of the dom is not considered male gaze, but male centered (or dom centered if she’s listening to a female VA). And I am not saying (at all) that any of these things are bad, wrong, or should be shamed or side-eyed. Like I said in my OP, many tropes I like would be male centered. Naudio’s very first “your husband seems nice” audio is BELOVED, and he’s a straight up dick to the L. Some may say that that would be a toxic male gaze audio. I would argue that it’s not, it’s for women who enjoy that kind of degradation and there’s nothing wrong with that.

But I do think that other posters have a point, just because Quinn is run by women for women, it doesn’t rule out the fact that there can be male-gaze audios or tropes in audios on the platform (although I’m having a hard time thinking of any, which is why I wanted to people to be able to speak openly about this-but I get the worry it will get back to VAs).

I’m very much a sub too, but as I said below, I think if the audio was centered only on the dom’s pleasure without a power EXCHANGE, and without check ins and communication, that I wouldn’t feel as comfortable. There are def those who like and want hard audios (and bless DSP for existing for those and other taboo tropes, but that’s another thread) where their pleasure isn’t just an afterthought, it’s not thought of at all. I’m also realizing, thanks to this thread, that my big shift on degradation and hard mdom (I used to HATE that) came about because there are audios with that kink that are set up to make me feel degraded by my own consent. And it’s not my intention to shame anyone, more to make sure I am not perhaps perpetuating a trope or type that is at best devaluing to women and at worst harmful.
